Russia had us fooled. They did have some capabilities in limited operations in the Third World. Syria was an example of that. VDK Paratroopers are pretty good. But they used them as cannon fodder during the opening days of the invasion. Their elite troops are gone. Now you have poorly motivated conscripts and contract soldiers from poor provinces in the Russian Empire.

The countless articles were convincing about the Russian military improvements, but what made me wonder sometimes, were those childish Spetnez videos on youtube where they would demonstrate stuff that was a ridiculous waste of time, the acrobatic hatchet stunts and such, Putin also introduced doubt in their abilities when he started telling the world his silly claims about superweapons, all of that indicated bluffing and insecurities, and a lack of understanding of real power and skill.
