Biden welcomes Lapid's UN speech: I could not agree more/barf

US President Joe Biden on Thursday welcomed Prime Minister Yair Lapid’s speech at the UN General Assembly, in which he expressed support for a “two-state solution” for the Israel-Palestinian Arab conflict.

“I welcome Prime Minister Lapid's courageous statement at the UN General Assembly: ‘An agreement with the Palestinians, based on two states for two peoples, is the right thing for Israel’s security, for Israel’s economy, and for the future of our children,’” ...

OK. Two states for two peoples. Apply that to the US. Divide it up into Brohomia and Whitelandia, as well as Fudgepack-istan for the gay enclaves. Apply that to Ukraine, and gift Donbas to Putin with no further debate, and see if that ends the war. Apply that to the Basque regions between Spain and France's borders. Apply that to Canada, French and English, eh. Apply that to Australia, whites and "Abbos". So, then, Apartheid was a good thing, I suppose, except in the execution. It is what Hitler used to take over all of Czechoslovakia. First partition off Sudetenland, then stage a fake attack on the "border" and retaliate. It's what Putin has been doing in Ukraine and Georgia, and Moldavia is next. It is crap. It is racist crap. It is insidious.

"Courageous"? To mouth the platitudes that Brandon wanted to hear? The two-state final solution is a bad idea whose time has gone. The sooner it's forgotten and forsaken the better. And who says there are just two peoples within this tiny triangular country? The Druze may speak Arabic, but they are viciously attacked by terrorists on a regular basis, and they are loyal Israeli citizens. So are many Arabs. So would be some "Palestinians" whom I know personally, who would be an asset to the country. For that matter, there are numerous tribal and clan divisions among Arabs. Until Israel showed up to be hated, the Qys and Yemen Arabs, respectively, had a tradition of mutual hatred extended throughout the Muslim world. They wouldn't intermarry, they sabotaged each others' agriculture and flocks, and killed each other whenever they could. In Moorish Spain, ridiculously, "Qys" and "Yemen" Spanish Muslims had generations-long feuds over trifles. When the Israeli army rolled into Hebron in 1967, the population was approximately 70,000, and each family and clan had its own compounds for mutual protection from the other families and clans that they had issues with. Your son married, the new couple got a new room in the compound, because if they moved into their own little house, they'd be quickly murdered. Now, with Israel, who first enforced a rule of law to stop all the feuding, and then became the object of hatred for all the feuding factions for the crime of lording it over them and bringing peace, and being Jewish at the same time, the population doubled and kept on growing. There are neighborhoods in the Northern reaches of Hebron that never existed before, right near my house when I lived nearby in Kiryat Arba. There was also a Kurdish enclave down the road.

Multiple peoples not only can, but ought to, form a single nation based on geographical practicalities, not racist blather spouted by a senile old coot and parroted by a leftard PM to please him. Isn't "diversity our strength"? Or was that last week's platitude?

Looks like Israel’s Prime Minister needs to change his name to “Lapiden”.

He’s in sync with Joe all the way.

Leftard TV personality with a hairdo. Nothing underneath the hair, though.

Biden, Democrats and 99% of the people at the State Dept have been trying to get the two state solution for decades. They always fail. Trump did the opposite and succeeded with the Abraham Accords. It should be the official policy of the United States to form agreements between Israel and other nation states, and not give two shits about so-called Palestinians.

It’s a horrible idea. The West Bank should just remain occupied and not be made into a separate nation. That puts all of Israel in permanent danger. And no one state solution. That makes the Palestinians Israeli voters. Best to leave it one Israel and an area they permanently occupy and administer.

The British were trying long before that. Arguably, that’s what Jordan was formed over, and also Lebanon. One for Muslim Arabs, one for Christians. And also to placate Faisal Hussein, who didn’t get to be King of Syria, and was later assassinated. Another Hussein was King of Iraq, and another one was the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, in spite of the popular vote for a Khalidi Mufti. That sure worked out great, didn’t it.

“That makes the Palestinians Israeli voters. “ Only if they want citizenship. Most won’t on principle, as is the case in Jerusalem. Shin Bet is probably keeping a whispering campaign going casting shame on the notion of citizenship in East Jerusalem. Good on them.

Got to cut bait or fish. One Israel. Citizenship for any Arab that wants it and has a clean record. Palestinian State? Sure. Ghaza’s welcome to that title. Anyone who has a problem with one Israel can move there.

I’m here. The situation on the ground is not as advertised on TV. Having skin in the game, and having lived in Israel 13 years now, this is my considered opinion.

The official policy of Netanyahu was always the ‘two-state solution’ even if the conditions attached were impossible for Jew-haters to meet. The very phrase encourages depraved fantasists and costs lives.

Nope... that’s an idiotic move. Keep Israel as it is. Keep the main part of the country as is. Keep the occupied territories as exactly that.

Why do you think there needs to be a “fish or cut bait”?
If they become voters, that is the end of Israel. If they get a nation on the west bank, pretty much every population center in the country is within rocket and 155 range.
And an all out attack to the sea needs to cover about 10 miles.

But hey, let the stabby head choppers become voters. Whatever.

Nothing will happen, this is just Biden kissing up to the progressives to get them onboard for the midterms. After the election it will be forgotten.

You mean, they are not in Judah and Samaria right now? The sea is presently not wet, but if they become a “nation,” that’ll change, and we’ll have a fleet of naval ships blockading us (like the UK tried to do but couldn’t).

If they all become voters, and all vote the same way, yes, that would happen. But since 1967, Arabs in Jerusalem have had the option of becoming citizens, and the only time there was a surge in applications was when the Obama administration was talking up partitioning Jerusalem, and that was because they had no desire to become Palestinian citizens, because they foresaw death and destruction and mass starvation. Those that could, who had the papers, emigrated to Jordan. Those that could not, except for the hard-boiled nationalists, applied for Israeli citizenship. But until then, they steered clear of Israeli citizenship, because that would be acknowledging the validity of the Zionist Entity, and a shanda for the neighbors and family. I believe the Shin Bet keeps that the norm through whispering campaigns within the Arab community of Jerusalem. The same would apply to an annexed Judah and Samaria. If grandpa’s sitting there huffing on his nargila in front of the house, and he hears the gossip that so-and-so applied for citizenship and wants to go into the army, and gathers up spit and expectorate a couple of meters in disgust, nobody will be imitating so-and-so, and his family will have to move because they are pariahs. That grandpa gets money from Shin Bet to do that regularly, nobody would believe, because he does the Mecca hoky poky faithfully five times a day, and never eats on Ramadan.

But aside from that, you cannot leave the “occupied” territories occupied indefinitely. The status quo must go one way or the other. Either the “Palestinians” get their own country, or they become a part of ours with civil rights and all. You can’t have it both ways indefinitely. If the Knesset makes decisions that effect their lives, they have to have a say in it eventually. That means taxation as well as representation, and benefits that go with it. The Romans understood this, which is why the far reaches of their empire also had Senators. Fish or cut bait. Eat the cake or have it. I’m willing to bet my life on that proposition, and I don’t do that lightly.

Lapid, however, would sell out Israel for cab fare, so long as his hair didn’t get mussed.

Anyone not happy living in Israel can move there, including leftard Israelis. Between defensible borders, you have one nation with many peoples. Works for America, works for Israel. River on one side, ocean on the other, mountains to the North and dessert to the South. Who can ask for anything more.
