“The the people of a specific area can have all their rights taken from them if a majority agree. Doesnt seem fair to me.”

If people reject their country and its constitution and seek to break away from it, they are free to leave, but they can’t take the country with them. If they don’t leave, and they maintain their rejection of their country and its constitution, then they could very well lose their rights. As has happened many times and in many places throughout history.

Every country has a few Quislings. Borders should not be defined by them. Are we going to give California to Mexico because La Raza wants it? Putinists would argue yes, apparently.

Yea, I got your point. I just fundamentally disagree. I like giving real power to the states and provinces; away from a centralized power. The approach you describe will forever favor status quo and entrenched powers. In such cases it’s not hard for me to see why war is where it leads.
