Only Sixteen
Sam Cooke
She was only sixteen, only sixteen
But I loved her so
She was too young to fall in love
And I was too young to know
We’d laugh and we’d sing
And do the little things
That made my heart glow
But she was too young to fall in love
And I was too young to know
Why did I give my heart so fast
It never will happen again
But I was a mere lad of sixteen
I’ve aged a year since then
She was only sixteen, only sixteen
With eyes that would glow
But she was too young to fall in love
And I was too young to know
(But why did you give your heart so fast?)
Boy, it never will happen again
(But you were a mere lad of sixteen)
I’ve aged a year since then
She was only sixteen, only sixteen
With eyes that would glow
But she was too young to fall in love
And I was too young to know
She was too young to fall in love
And I was too young to know
Christine Sixteen - Kiss
I don’t usually say things
Like this to girls your age
(Christine, sixteen)
But when I saw you coming
Out of the school that day
That day I knew, I knew
I’ve got to have you, I’ve got to have you
(Christine, sixteen)
It is a whole different story when it is two people near to, or the same age.
My husband was 17 and I was 16 when we met. I sure was not thinking he was too old.
Sixteen? lol. My wife was 14 when we met and we married 11 days after her 16th birthday.

Reading those lyrics brought a smile to this old face. My two most frequently used presets on the car radio are the oldies station and talk radio. I sing along or argue back.
