Well, to be fair, the real Rachel Jackson's portrait was done when she was much older. She died before her husband took office and her niece, Emily Donelson, served as White House hostess and First Lady during his presidency. If Rachel looked anything like Emily in her youth, she wasn't at all bad looking:
