Up until recently, liberals PRETENDED to revere the Constitution. However, TDS is so powerful that it made them drop all pretenses to the extent that many of them now admit the truth--- They HATE the Constitution.

Amazing how much influence Trump has had on the emotions of the left. From the moment that he announced, the “minds” of leftists have been stuck in a loop. There is no sign of their minds going back to normal. Trump will continue to live in their “minds” for as long as he is alive. They hate him as much as they love abortion.

If psychiatry were not a fraud, it would call this a mental illness.

Sad.

Well Politico founding editor John F. Harris is full of it.

The Constitution is maybe the greatest political document ever created and we don’t need Harris screwing it up.

Harris is probably ignorant of the fact that the U.S. Constitution CREATED the U.S. Federal Government.

Abolishing the Constitution would be abolishing the U.S. Government - another coup d’état. We don’t need another coup attempt.

This guy needs to go pound sand somewhere.

Politico doesn't allow comments. Exemplary of a Leftist wanting "a dialogue".

Let's take a look at a few items from the editor's diatribe:

"Another answer, however, is: Who cares what they thought then? The Constitution was written at a time when states were indeed foundational — a central part of people’s identity and way of life."
This sentiment is the most odious. The editor is either ignorant of or purposely ignores (probably a bit of both) the foundation upon which the Constitution was drafted. The authors drew from history, which didn't just begin this morning, but from at least to the time of the Greek and Roman civilizations. They also had recent experience with Europe. They knew full well the potential of mob rule. Its where the term "demogogue" finds its roots.

"This has not been true for nearly a century, as both national government and national identity have become stronger. States are still essential administrative units."
The more wordy version of "Lincoln put the issue of state's rights to rest". I'm sure a farmer in South Dakota looks forward to having some idiot in the DC cocktail circuit dictating how he/she should live. Because that is essentially the underpinning of what the author is saying. And if the farmer says 'no', the author is more than willing to say 'muh democracy' while sending armed thugs to enforce whatever diktat is issued, which is probably why the author is also concerned about that pesky 2nd amendment thingy.

"But the rural conservative voter in California — which had more Trump voters than any state, even as he lost it by nearly 30 points — has more in common politically with a rural conservative from South Dakota than either have with urban progressives in New York or San Francisco."
Here, the author contradicts his overly worded screed, and betrays the elitist. So the opinion of of an urban progressive is superior to the smelly Walmart person. Good to know. Hopefully the author makes that known to the trucker, HVAC tech, plumber, contractor, electrician and the like the next time the author needs something done.

What a POS.

For years the Democrats have wanted the Constitution to be a “Living Document”. That means they can interpret it to be whatever they want it to be depending on the day of the week and phase of the moon.

LOL.. They want to rewrite the constitution because constitutionally the left is struggling to rid US politics of Donald Trump. Inventing new laws is a great way to finally put him away.

The Constitution isn’t perfect. It just that it’s the best
one written so far.

I shudder to think of the constitution the Communists have
in store for us, to replace it.

Proposed constitutional amendment:

Wealth sovereigns are prohibited from involvement in the government and politics.

It gets Trump out of politics and the need for Trump. Somehow I don’t think our domestic enemies will be supportive.

The problem isn't the Electoral College, it's the mistaken belief that the President is the ruler of the people.

The President is the executive officer of the federation of states. He is responsible for managing interstate commerce, for foreign relationships on behalf of the states, and for the common defense of the states. Everything else falls to the states, and the governors, to manage.

That's why the Electoral College chooses the President and not the people, because the President works for the states as sovereign entities, not for the people directly.
