Poland and Norway open 'milestone' trans-Baltic gas pipeline

Poland and Norway opened a new gas pipeline via Denmark on Tuesday, hailed as a much-needed alternative to Russian-controlled routes.

At a ceremony in Poland, Norway’s Energy Minister Terje Aasland said the opening of Baltic Pipe was “a milestone on the important path towards European independence”...

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said it “marks a crucial geopolitical step for all of us.”

“Putin uses Russian energy as a weapon to destabilise Europe, to divide us. He cannot be allowed to succeed,” Ms Frederiksen said, referring to the Russian president.

Poland, one of the fiercest advocates in Europe of isolating Moscow, was one of several countries to have their Russian gas supplies cut off in April after refusing Mr Putin’s demand to pay in roubles.

It opened a gas interconnector with Lithuania in May and another with Slovakia in August, but Baltic Pipe is the biggest addition to Poland’s import capacity, with capacity to cover about half its gas needs.

Baltic Pipe started flowing gas today, and by New Year's Day it will be up to a rate of 10 bcm/year, totally replacing the amount that Poland used to import from Russia.

We are about six weeks from the huge Freeport LNG export terminal in Texas starting up, which will increase US export capacity about 25%.

Well, there are plenty of folks who would like to see it destroyed. Putin and the environmental extremists, to name just two. Greta Thunberg might be putting on her scuba suit even as I type this.

Then there’s the CIA. Those guys are famous for doing stupid and counter-productive things.

Congratulations, Poland and Norway.
Now, be prepared for a fusillade of attempts to sabotage and/or destroy your new pipeline. Be ready!

The Poles were a lot smarter than the Germans.

First the Poles significantly increased their gas storage capacity and filled it.

Then the Poles signed built an LNG terminal.

Then the Poles secured a long term LNG contract with America.

Then the Poles secured a long term gas supply contract with Norway and built a pipeline.

They started all of this years ago.

Look at the Germans desperately scrambling now....after shutting down half their nuclear power plants and scheduling to shut down the remaining ones so they’re all the more desperate.

“The Danish military has released volatile footage of a mysterious, frothing disturbance in the Baltic Sea in the vicinity of the Nordstream pipelines.”

I would assume that this is connected, no? Does that video show what happens when a pipe ruptures? Sure looks like it...

Russia desperately wants a crisis with NATO because they’re currently being beaten and humiliated by Ukrainian farmers.

I wouldn’t give longevity long odds...:-)

⚡️BREAKING NEWS⚡️

Swedish Police begin investigation into possible sabotage behind the gas leak (https://t.me/IntelRepublic/5696) from Nord Stream pipelines.

Kind of looks like a confession...:-)

WAS IT YOU, JOE? Nord Stream 2 pipeline is leaking gas, Danish authorities put the energy sector on an orange ALERT (the 2nd highest), WARNING ships to NOT sail within five nautical miles of it, as it’s LIFE THREATENING - leaving the world with one CONCLUSION, Biden delivered on his ILLOGICAL PROMISE.

Biden: “If Russia invades that means Russian troops crossing the border of Ukraine then there will be no longer a Nordstream 2. We will bring an end to it.

Reporter: “But, how will you do that exactly since control of the project is within Germany’s control?

Biden: (smirking) We will, I promise you we will be able to do that.

⚔️⚔️⚔️The American detachment of ships announced the completion of work in the area of the alleged sabotage on gas pipelines. The expeditionary detachment of US Navy ships led by the USS Kearsarge amphibious assault ship today completed tasks in the Baltic Sea and was seen by the next Baltic straits in the North Sea. Now it is located 30 kilometers from the site of the alleged sabotage on the Nord Stream 1 gas pipeline and 50 kilometers from the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline. ⚔️⚔️⚔️

At some point this pipeline must cross the Russian pipeline on the bed of the Baltic. How that works must be interesting international law. I also remember one of the Baltic states working with the Swedes to lay an electric cable. The Russians anchored a ship to block its completion for some time. The Russians have been planning to use energy as a weapon for some time now.

Joe likes to take credit for his crimes..:-)

Two years after leaving office, couldn’t resist the temptation last
year to brag to an audience of foreign policy specialists about the time as
vice president that he strong-armed Ukraine into firing its top prosecutor.
In his own words, with video cameras rolling, he
threatened Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko in March 2016 that the
Obama administration would pull $1 billion in U.S. loan guarantees,
sending the former Soviet republic toward insolvency, if it didn’t
immediately fire Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin.
“I said, ‘You’re not getting the billion.’ I’m going to be leaving here in, I
think it was about six hours. I looked at them and said: ‘I’m leaving in six
hours. If the prosecutor is not fired, you’re not getting the money,’” Biden
recalled telling Poroshenko.
“Well, son of a bitch, he got fired.”

Baltic Pipe is 10 billion cubic meters per year. Nord Stream 1 was 55 billion and Nord Stream 2 doubled that.
