Shocking before and after photos reveal the devastating impact of Hurricane Ian’s rampage across the scenic coastal town of Fort Myers and nearby areas Wednesday.

The historic Category 4 storm ransacked wide swathes of the city, obliterating once pristine stretches of beach, leveling longtime tourist destinations and even buckling bridges.

Taken from across the town of 85,000, the images capture the calm before the storm and the horrific reality of its aftermath.

The ‘horrific reality’ appears to be mostly storm surge damage. Most large structures are still standing, a lot of srorm debris blown around. News does seem to coming in very slowly. I suppose the press whores are disappointed that there are no pictures of alligators devouring bodies of drowned victims in the ruins.

Hope the FReepers who live down there where the hurricane
hit are not as badly affected as it looks like they may
have been.

this damage is from storm surge combined with high tide.

if the CAT-4 winds they were advertising were at ground level, there would’ve been nothing left of the surrounding neighborhoods but piles of lumber

You are correct. Media, self interested local politicians and the rat establishment all work together to generate a hysterical ‘oh the humanity’ narrative to feed local politicos hope for a big payday from the state and DC while the climate change racketeers want to jack up the hysteria and cheap bathos to feed their narrative. Watch for the first weeping ‘senior citizen’ on TV.

Those pics were the sugar coated version. Search youtube for Ft. Meyers drone aftermath then go to google maps/earth and see the before Ian version. Ive never seen any place hit so hard.

This is the same place...that house in the lower round about...no idea where it cane from. Trees are stripped:

I live in Casselberry.
A retirement Mobil home park.
I have not been able to go home yet. My son went by the park yesterday, you still couldn’t get in the streets were still flooded.
All I have is prayer I can get in today. I am staying with my son.
His house flooded a little. It will be ok.

In the first place, I don’t consider Ft. Myers a coastal City. Ft. Myers Beach is, but they are miles apart and Ft. Myers is up river quite a ways from the Beach and the Gulf.

Almost every photo is from Ft Myers Beach, and there may be one of Naples which is a lot closer to the Gulf than Ft. Myers itself.

Those taking photos of damage are seemingly willing to deceive the public as to where the pics are actually being taken. I have not seen yet damage related to Ft. Myers itself. That by no means should indicate there is none.

My father's widow lives in Placida. She was dumb enough to think she could ride out the storm at the house. At 6pm she called my brother screaming that the door was buckling and she had to lean against it so it wouldn't blow open. As she was sitting in water up to her waist part of the roof got ripped off the house. Her phone cut off at 6.15pm and nobody heard from her again til a family member found her emotionally and physically drained.

There are plenty of obliterated houses, you just aren’t looking at the vids. A lot of older homes blown apart, looks like Joplin.

Now, perhaps more people on the Florida coast will drive EVs, so they’re protected against this happening again.

(don’t laugh...we’ll all soon be forced to do the same)

My aunt has a winter place in Ft Myers. The condo survived but she suffered a horrific loss. Her classic Corvette was destroyed.

I thought Joe Biden controlled the atmosphere and he did this
to Florida because DeSantis sent those illegals to Martha's Vineyard
and Barry wasn't happy about that. No?

My son lives inland in Naples, Florida. He had hardly any damage, unlike with hurricane Irma. There was no flooding and he never lost power. During Irma he had trees knocked down and the wind embedded a 2 x 4 into his roof. His Father-in-law lives a few miles closer to downtown Naples and he just lost power.
