It is almost like there had never been any plan in place for dealing with a nuclear war before Biden took up his squat in the Oval Office.

This is ALL new, never before introduced or even talked about. [SNORT!}

The danger of a nuclear exchange is perhaps greater today than anytime since the height of the Cold War, when Jimmy Carter was bumbling and fumbling around, trying to fit into a job that was way too great for him.

Ronaldus Magnus brought a calm to the world that had not been known since Stalin had died, with his “trust but verify” talk and his direct challenges to the Soviet leaders, “Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!”

The Soviet Union soon fell beneath its own weight, crumbling from within. The smaller Russian Federation that emerged was a much chastened and more civilized land than Russia had been since the time of the Tsars.

Russians CAN act behaved, but just remember, no matter what form of government they may choose, or politics they may claim to hold dear, Russians are still Russians.

And the Ukrainians despise them all the same. It is believed the feeling is mutual.

You have a different memory of the Reagan years than I, he brought us face to face with Russia and nuclear war, and it saved us, 1984 and 1985 were the tensest years I have ever spent facing Russia and nuclear war, in the NATO military the tension was incredible, in civilian life people were afraid the media might be right about Reagan and war, but we all rode it out and Reagan’s saber-rattling and challenging the Russians at every turn and everywhere was the right thing to do.

By 1986 we knew Russia had missed a window that Reagan had spent so heavily and managed so well to close in the previous 5 years that we had a breather, and were probably safe for at least a decade.
