California wells run dry as drought depletes groundwater
Krcr ^ | Tuesday, October 4th 2022 | TERRY CHEA Associated Press

Amid a megadrought plaguing the American West, more rural communities are losing access to groundwater as heavy pumping depletes underground aquifers that aren’t being replenished by rain and snow.

California gives its water to

citizens 10% agriculture 40%

And

Environment 50%

So , Sacramento pours fully one half our California water to the sea ( envitoment) .

They don't let that 50% go into the ocean and cry drought.

Spit.( looking at you krcr , not just a drought but a MEGAdrought ? Why don't you show the pie chart ?)

Go to the link link and scroll down to see pie chart.

I have family in CA. I care about them.

The state of CA, the Democrats that dominate and infest the state? I couldn’t care less.

All conservative minded folks move to a competitive state and tip it in favor of conservative candidates.

Gotta save the Delta Smelt don’t you know. At least that was the excuse when I lived out there.

When they cite the dried up wells they never note the increase in population over the past 40 years.

Yes, I have a good friend in Oroville CA with a poorly dug well (dug 20 years ago on the cheap; too shallow and maybe not in the best location) and she struggled last year with water. She does laundry at her mom’s house and doesn’t use a dishwasher. She doesn’t have the $$ to re-dig a well as it costs like $20K.

This year the well has actually done a bit better—we did get a little rain last month.

This drought is obviously caused by Climate Change. Which, by the way, also causes heavy rains, high temperatures, low temperatures, and every other bad thing.

Desalination would be a great idea from California. But save the whales or something is getting in the way.

/\
YES !!!!!!!

Doug LaMalfa is trying to get the new Sites resivour built and is being sand bagged by sacramento communists.

It would also help to quit tearing dams down and draining resivours also.

Oh, and quit giving 50% of our water, whatever the amount received that year, to the “ environment “

U.S. Representative Doug LaMalfa’s Drought Update. Combating California’s Drought and Water Restrictions.

https://freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/4093702/posts

After years of less than normal rainfall and terrible management by the State of California and the federal government, water has been CUT OFF to many Northern California water agencies and farms

Most farmers were FORCED to severely restrict planting, and many will not have a crop at all. Worse, the federal government is CUTTING OFF available water MIS-SEASON from farmers in the Klamath Basin. This comes AFTER the INVESTMENT was made to plow, apply fertalizer, seed, herbicides , and PAY for what little WATER that they did receive. Those farmers invested in a potential crop either from bank LOANS or their own SAVINGS. Now, without water due to an unexpected water GRAB, THESE CROPS WIL DIE and the investment will FAIL. I spoke to President Biden briefly after the State of the Union speech about this very prospect. It’s crippling to farmers in this position and a GIANT WASTE of all the efforts they made to plant this year. This reduces the supply of food in a time when the President said he anticipated food shortages along with the already high grocery prices.

Water shutoff are also an ENVIRONMENTAL DISASTER as the western shorebird and waterfowl migration starts and unplanted farms SEVERELY CURTAIL the normal HABITAT for them.

The Biden and Newsom administrations’ policies have resulted in poor water management and their primary focus on water temperature in the rivers for FISH ONLY makes things WORSE.

I led an effort to have the Bureau of Reclamation STORE MORE WINTER STORM WATER in Lake Shasta, and to have the State DWR do the same in Lake Oroville. They IGNORED my warnings and that of many other public officials across the state that joined my effort in Congress , and NOW we see the results. By FAILING TO STORE THE WATER when it was raining and during early snowmelt runoff, ALL of California has a NEEDLESSLY low water supply. This resulted in MJOR CUTS to agriculture and water restrictions for people in cities.

Meanwhile, environmental water flows through the Bay Delta are barely curtailed or even INCREASED.

2021/2022 was NOT the worst water year in modern history, but it HAS BEEN one of the WORST for water MANAGEMENT by GOVERNMENT entities.

Domestic home wells and farm wells are going dry, in part DUE TO no water IN OUR CANALS to help recharge the groundwater table.

Without agriculture bolstering our economy, as well as the environmental benefits ag water brings to the MANY SPECIES, the negative effects are piling up. Just take a drive through the fallow fields adjacent to the Sacramento River up and down the Sacramento Valley or down I-5 and Hwy 99 through the San Joaquin Valley.

The LACK of action TO BUILD ADDITIONAL WATER STORAGE and proper MANAGEMENT of what WATER WE DO HAVE is costing us jobs. It’s costing Families their livelihoods and the worst part is, THIS COULD HAVE ALL BEEN AVOIDED.

U.S. Representative Doug LaMalfa is leading the effort to improve ground water supply by using winter storm water to recharge ground water instead of LETTING THE WATER FLUSH TO THE OCEAN.

!!!!!

U.S. Representative Doug LaMalfa secured $2.2 billion in funding in the form of low-cost loans to start construction of Sites Resivour.

U.S. Representative Doug LaMalfa worked with Congressional leaders to successfully maintain $134 million in annual funding for California water storage and the largest appropriation for Sites Resivour ever.

!!!!!#

U.S. Representative Doug LaMalfa led an EFFORT with every California Republican member to MAXIMIZE winter water STORAGE to FILL Shasta, Oroville and other Northern California resivours every year BEFORE summer water delivery season.

U.S. Representative Doug LaMalfa is working to FORCE the State and Federal Regulators to use ACTUAL science to update water management rules and MAXIMIZE WATER STORAGE.

California, in the absence of adequate water for the purposes for which it is intended, is gradually (or perhaps not so gradually) turning back into the seasonal desert and bog it once was.

Before the snow pack on the west side of the Sierras was tamed, through the use of check dams and a vast system of irrigation channels, the San Joaquin valley was by turns a shallow lake part of the year, and a burnt and cracked desert the other part of the year.

Men of great vision saw a means by which the desert could be made to bloom, and with the system started in the early 20th Century, began the systematic transformation of the desert areas of the Central Valley by capturing runoff and doling it out over the season, until the fall mists and rain returned. The summer saw the growth of cotton and alfalfa and the winters were for the growing of barley, with an ample number of citrus groves and various nut trees (walnuts and pecans, largely) as well as various tomato, garlic, pepper and strawberries, all “stoop labor” kinds of crops, and the Central Valley became the market basket of American variety fruits and vegetables. Central California also became the major dairy production center of the US, surpassing Minnesota and Wisconsin in volume and productivity.

In the midst of all this growing prosperity, there arose a counterculture, brought on by those who, if they did not have enough adversity in their lives, went out of their way to create confusion and dissent. The agricultural empire has been badly damaged, and the once entirely self-reliant California was transformed into the nearest approach to that of Venezuela that has so far been implemented in the United States of America.

The decline and fall of all of America is predicated on the fortunes of California, but that does not have to be, wrong is wrong no matter where it is propagated. California is essentially depopulating, as the productive segment flees, and the remaining drones keep up their incessant warfare and clashes in a vain hope of having something left to assert dominance upon, while destroying the means to make anything of value.

They let that 50% go into the ocean.....to further their Population Control objectives!!!

The resulting reduction in food production ensures more people starve to death.

See my tagline:

Bears repeating.

In the midst of all this growing prosperity, there arose a counterculture, brought on by those who,

( were flat out perverted reprobate self deluded stinking Marxists /-)

if they did not have enough adversity in their lives, went out of their way to create confusion and dissent.
