That’s true. They are also pretty shoddy on the defensive, unless they are on their own turf inside Mother Russia. Then they can be formidable.
The average Russian soldier is not invested in this war. And it shows.
Yes, when they’re in Russia they know which haystacks to hide in. Zeitzler at one of Hitler’s conference tables said “...they’re such clever devils”. According to Walter Warlimont’s excellent book “Hitler’s Headquarters”.
