New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham (D) said on Wednesday that she has requested assistance from the FBI to fight violent crime in the state.
Lujan Grisham asked Attorney General Merrick Garland for additional FBI agents, after a similar move in Buffalo, N.Y., proved impactful in reducing homicide rates.

I was under the impression (from teaching the Constitution for many years) that nearly all crime is a state matter.
I suppose if the crimes are being committed on the Indian Reservations, it can be a matter for the FBI. Is that what the governor is trying not to say out loud—the Indians are acting up?

As a New Mexico resident, I completely agree with you. MLG imposed some of the most restrictive lockdown measures during COVID and she LOVED the authority it gave her. She’s getting push back and not wanting to give up her power. I also believe she’s wanting “violent white supremacists” identified so she can use that during the upcoming election.
