Republican candidate gains momentum in Oregon governor's race

Oregon may be on the verge of electing its first Republican governor in a generation next month.

It would be a heavy blow for Democrats, an indictment of the party’s brand in what has been one of the most progressive states in the country. Portland, its largest city, has been an epicenter of left-wing activism in support of causes like defunding the police and drug decriminalization.

But by all accounts, Portland is struggling. Crime is up, the city is facing a homelessness crisis and residents are worried. Democratic Rep. Earl Blumenauer, a Portland native who has represented much of the city in Congress since 1996, called Portland “broken” when he announced his reelection bid earlier this year.

“There’s just a huge feeling of lawlessness,” a Portland resident told the Oregonian this week.

Things are so bad, in fact, that some of the state’s left-leaning voters might support a Republican candidate for governor this November.

Republican Christine Drazan, a former state House minority leader, is campaigning hard on the issues of homelessness, drug addiction and crime. In the last week or so, she has surged to claim a 1-point lead in the FiveThirtyEight polling average over her main opponent, Democrat Tina Kotek, a former state House speaker.

If a Republican wins, the riots by Antifa and Company will start all over again. Guaranteed.

Anybody notice there have been none since Biden has been in office?..................

I’ll bet this GOV—if elected—will hope for riots just so she can put them down.

Big IF.

Oregon was one of the first states to go to mail in ballots. It sounds good on first glance, fill out your ballot, mail it in. Couldn’t be easier.

However the dark side of “mail in” is that once you remove your ballot from the envelop, it’s lost its chain of custody.

At that point, if it’s not correct ( you didn’t vote for the right person) it can be swapped out. Bingo zingo nobody can tell, because your signature is in the trash.

Don’t worry. Kotek WILL win. The spoiler is the other democrat who will simply have her supporters vote for Kotek. Even if not, there will be plenty of “misplaced” mail in ballots from the homeless camps around Eugene, Salem, and Portland to put her in office.

Yes Oregon is controlled by Portland and Eugene basically. Then if a certain approved candidate is falling behind, the old copy machine gets warmed up, cause there is NO CHAIN of Custody when the ballots are removed from the envelopes.

Was this a oversight? or an on purpose omission in the procedure?

Oregon, like many states, is a few square miles of ultimate craziness and a whole lot of open country sanity. They’re talking about banning diesel motors in the whole state.

It’s actually a pretty short step from voters living with the fecal matter to saying enough is enough.

Is it possible that even a few loons are getting fed up? I am beginning to believe there may be cross-over dim voters in this election. Even dims pay high prices as I do.
