Years ago, while working in commercial lending at a local bank, United way would come in every year for their annual begging campaign. My bank of course helped the grift by authorizing payroll deductions. I refused. “It’s only a few bucks per pay period” they said. Hounded me for weeks after every annual begging session but I stood my ground. The bank was more interested in boasting about 100% employee participation than where the money was going. I was the lone holdout so they could only boast 99% participation and that was fine with me! Suckers….
