This was predictable and frankly, overdue.
Putting all the snark aside here and elsewhere over this conflict, it is pretty obvious that Putin was sold a bill of goods by his military team who look to have spent all the extra money on their dachas and mistresses.
It is difficult to imagine a military less prepared for war than the Russians were given the overwhelming (and undeniable) problems we have witnessed.
Putin needs a “reset” lest he be blamed for the incompetence and here it comes.
Dangerous times. It will be interesting to see who wins this and I hope and pray that this tragedy does not expand to something far worse.

The Ministry of Defence of Russia has appointed Sergey Surovikin commander of the joint group of troops in Ukraine.
Surovikin has held the office of the Commander of the Aerospace Forces of the Russian Federation since 31 October 2017.
He participated in the armed conflict in Tajikistan (1992-1997), the Second Chechen War (1999-2009) and the military operation in Syria (2015-to date).
Before this appointment, the Russian forces in Ukraine were led by General Aleksandr Dvornikov.
