Nike co-founder Phil Knight has donated $1 million to elect Republican Oregon gubernatorial candidate Christine Drazan in an increasingly tight race against Democrat Tina Kotek.
Knight’s donation to Drazan’s campaign comes after he donated $3.75 million to Independent candidate Betsy Johnson, signaling his strong dislike for Tina Kotek.
Republican strategist Rebecca Tweed told KGW Knight’s donation said the two donations are not meant as an endorsement of either candidate but rather an attack against the Democrat candidate.
“It’s not really $1 million toward Drazan or $3.75 (million) towards Betsy. It’s $4.75 (million) against Tina Kotek,” Tweed told the outlet.
“Each candidate has brought in $13… 14… 16.5 million. We’re just getting started. I know people are tired of seeing ads, but sit down and get ready for it,” she added.

I live in Oregon, but have seen few ads for any governor candidate.
Quite a race there but I sense the “Chamber of Commerce” and police unions in Oregon don’t want an extreme left atmosphere of homeless encampments and crime in Portland.
A three-way race opens the door to a Republican governor.
I have seen ads...Kotek is abortion...Johnson not memorable...Drazan focused on not more of same, ie change. Johnson will siphon from Kotek..if she was smart she would withdraw and send her voters to Drazan.
Nike owns a huge amount of property as their corporate HQ in Beaverton.
The Portland politicians have had their eyes on a way to grab it for decades.
Knight is huge donor to Univ.of Oregon athletics. I wonder how long those Eugene antifa types let that continue.

Even Phil Knight remembers the Bhagwan fiasco, he was deep in the fray. Well now the Bhagwan followers scatterred and are embedded deep in the Oregon bureaucracy

To be fair, I recall Phil Knight being an above average runner. He was average only in Bill Bowerman’s Oregon.
Johnson was board member of Planned Parenthood (what a misnomer). Johnson’s ads against Drazen claim Drazen is supported by extremists who don’t like killing babies.
Johnson is still a tax & spend democrat.
Johnson supported Oregon’s hidden sales tax.

Knight is also a donor to the OHSU cancer center. It’s named after him.
I wonder, among the C-suite crowd, how many would love to support the right side but are cowed by their own HR departments and DEI gay-stapos, trembling lest a lifetime of work crumble before cancel culture.

Gee and old Phil supported all those causes right up until crime became too much of a problem...... You would think old Phil would understand action / cause relationships...
