You can tell each other stories about a “zerg rush” and crippling Uke casualties, but there is no way to validate any such thing. The sole source is Russian claims. The Russians havent gone into providing proof of any sort.
There is no way to validate Ukrainian claims of Russian losses either, except indirectly, as there is a large well organized database of photo and video evidence of vehicle and equipment losses, and that is available to the public. Lost vehicle <> lost men, but there has to be at least a correlation.
Do we are not going to know what has been going on until after this war is over, and most likely well after that.
The other way to look at it is battlefield performance, up to a point. As units lose men they become incapable of offensive action, especially of operational maneuver. You need echelon 2 to follow echelon 1 to exploit into the next line of defense, and echelon 3 after that to break out and exploit into the “green fields beyond” (Ref is the Battle of Cambrai,1917, where the British hadnt prepared an Echelon 2 or 3). The Russians havent been able to do that since March.

What is the coverage based on Ukrainian military propaganda is supposed to prove?
It is reasonable to suggest that a bunch of 15,000 troops can force a retreat of a couple dozen of howitzers over the line of 15 miles.
The fact that 7,000 of the bunch minus a hundred pieces of armor remains on the end of the day is not mentioned in the analysis.

You really need to expand the sources of news you get on this conflict. Ukraine is getting its ass kicked. And just wait a little while for the ground to freeze and see what Russia does. Reports I have heard show the Ukies have lost 100k + dead soldiers. Not to mention the wounded and maimed. Meanwhile Ruskie losses are but a small fraction of that.
You need to take into account 2 things regarding the restraint from Russia. 1) They viewed Ukranians as brothers. The same way we would feel about Canada or Britain. 2) They thought the west would want to negotiate sooner or later. Especially France and Germany.
These illusions are gone. When Russia decides to end this war, there won’t be power for the Ukrainians. And since it will be very cold soon, no heat. No internet. And as the Kremlin has demonstrated with the precision strikes the last 2 days, it knows exactly where the good things are that need to be hit. Such as stores of weapons and where NATO “advisors” are being housed. Ukraine will be stuck with a refugee crisis that will be terrible. They will be attacked from multiple directions at once and will have a piss poor time trying to coordinate a response due to the attacks that russia will do to their infrastructure and command and control.
I’m calling it here and now. I will watch with amusement as people will be shocked Ukraine has suddenly lost the war.
