America’s stockpile of nuclear weapons may not work
washingtontimes.com ^ | Robert Monroe

Our thousands of nuclear weapons were designed, tested and built in the 1960s, ’70s and ’80s to win the Cold War. None of these weapons has been tested since 1992, over a quarter century ago. Nor has a single new weapon been designed, tested or built during this same period.

The tens of thousands of active nuclear weapons scientists in our three nuclear weapons labs have never designed, tested and built a nuclear weapon.

Nuclear weapons are the most complex systems ever created by man. The detonation of a nuclear weapon is so complex that there are many activities and processes occurring in the initial millionth of a second which we do not understand. The heart of a nuclear weapon is made of plutonium, and many aspects of its aging process are still unknown to us.

During our half-century of active nuclear weapons testing (1945-92), we conducted more than a thousand tests. A great many of these were failures. I doubt that any test was ever conducted in which unexplainable events did not occur. Our best and most experienced weapons designers were noted for telling of many cases where the designs in which they had the most confidence were the ones in which the most complete failures occurred.

All of our nuclear weapons were designed and built when the nuclear weapons age was in its adolescence. Decades of recently-gained knowledge was not included. Also, these weapons were all built under wartime conditions, when speed was essential, shortcuts were taken and there was no time for accurate record-keeping. For example, as designers made last-minute design changes in the weapon under test, these changes may not have been recorded in the weapon’s final “as-built” documentation.

All these weapons were designed to have an estimated 20-year lifetime.

The weapons on alert will work.

But they are strategic, end of the world size.

We have to no battlefield nuke capability.

Another consideration is the supply of tritium. Tritium is used to give these weapons a lot of their oomph. But tritium has a 12 year half life, so you need to swap the bottles holding the tritium out every so often. Back in 1992 or 1993 Clinton ordered production of tritium to be stopped. Don’t know if it ever was restarted.

The surface of the Moon is inches deep in tritium. Funny how the X-37 vanishes for weeks and weeks, isn't it?

“The wires, sensors, batteries, and computing gear now being quietly installed on hundreds of the most powerful U.S. warheads give them an enhanced ability to detonate with what the military considers exquisite timing over some of the world’s most challenging targets, substantially increasing the probability that in the event of a major conflict, those targets would be destroyed in a radioactive rain of fire, heat, and unearthly explosive pressures.”

From a Washington Post article dated October 29, 2021 on the upgrading of nuclear arsenal.

Clinton didn’t order production stopped. It stopped in 88 because the plant was shut down for safety reasons. The Clinton administration addressed the issue in 1998.

You would think ONE of them would get bored and make a nuke.

I think about this often. How do we know our crap even works anymore?

Given our own economic model is far superior to that of Russia's, how do we know their crap works??

My bet: it doesn't. Their economic model is far more corrupt than our Government is.

Good thing nobody said that out loud for the Chicoms, Russians, North Koreans or Iranians to hear./S

There was one Ancient Aliens episode plus a statement under oath to a committee and a section in the nonfiction book UFOs in Warfare by Mack Maloney that is quite disturbing.

In March of 1967 at Malmstrom Air Force Base, Robert Salas a former U.S. Nuclear Launch Officer was doing his job monitoring the missiles six stories under the ground when he got a call for a guard on the ground.

“He calls down saying they’ve been seeing some strange lights in the sky making odd maneuvers, very silent, he knows they’re not airplanes,” Salas told ABC news
....
Soon after the nuclear missiles that he was in charge of, starting going offline one by one according to Salas. Basically, they had zero control of the ten ICBM missiles as they went into an un-launchable mode during the time the UFO was hovering. While there was no harm done to the weapons, Salas said that it took until the next day to have access to them again. Anyorder to launch the missiles would have resulted in none of them being online to accomplish their mission.

In 2017, Salas gave an interview to the Great Falls Tribune. He told the paper that he was ordered to sign paperwork that he could never talk about that night in March of 1967 just outside of Roy, Montana.

Movie still....

One guy without makeup is Fetterman, fifth guy from the bottom on right.

They let him keep the robe to go bar hopping to impress women. He later went into politics.

Their military equipment is looking pretty bad these days. What is the likelihood that their nukes don’t work either.

Have you seen our military readiness lately?

At any rate, Russia has over 6,000 nukes. They all don't have to work, and some might not. Others will work just fine.

Guaranteed Israelis have up to date deployed and deployable nukes. US could borrow a few if needed in case US treasonous military brass is leaving America unprotected.

Biden is bending over backwards trying to jumpstart terrorist Iran's nuclear program, pissing off both the Saudis and the Israelis who regard Iran was their mortal enemies.

You think Israel is going to loan "Armageddon Joe" a few nukes because ours no longer work?

Good point.

I was thinking of real America, not the Biden-Schumer-Pelosi America.

In a lot of ways, we are so screwed…
