Cruz committed a terrible crime, but the blame goes to his birth mother who was doing drugs while she was pregnant with him. The drugs she took fried his brain. The blame also goes to the authorities who didn’t help him even when he asked for their help. Lots of blame to go around.

I don’t know how things work in Florida currently, but where I live (Tennessee) it averages about _40_ years between a DP sentence and execution. Not much difference between that and life-without-parole, except that the DP case is constantly being appealed for most of those 40 years.

This demonstrates again why America is going down the drain. Most Americans today are emotional and weak. Our national character is largely bereft of strength and resolve.

All it takes one ‘NO’ to death penalty.
To: EEGator
Maybe. I really don’t like prison justice, though, because it can just as easily work against truly innocent convicts, or convicts which were overcharged and zealously prosecuted by leftist prosecutors and courts, like the Jan 6 protesters.

I understand that. I’m not sure which is really worse.
I might prefer death to 30+ years in the pen.

I would be willing to bet that most death row inmates die IN prison rather than by their sentence. The number of executions is a very small portion of capital criminals.
