its not the first time a jury dissappointed victims families. Remember black OJ Simpston and how a black jury of Los Angeles illiterates let him get away with killing two white people?

Sounds like the one idiot decided that he’d play the jury nullification card.

O.J. wasn’t black in any meaningful sense.

It’s really unfair that these folks are blaming the entire jury, eleven of whom did their job and had to view evidence so awful it will likely scar them for life. My anger is limited to the liar who let down the families and society. I doubt it’s legal, but the judge should throw out the flyer.

OK...that may be because she's kept her mouth shut. But this guy would be toast regardless of how silent he was.

I’m wondering if it was just a lone holdout juror who nixed the death penalty. If so, the person’s background and social media should be thoroughly examined to see if there’s any evidence of pre-bias against any death sentence. Each of the jurors should been asked from the outset if they were against levying a death penalty if the law’s requirements were met.

DeSantis was also very openly critical.

This guy needed to die. If he’s going to be kept alive, every Catholic priest or Protestant pastor in the state needs to go down there and make him repent and change his life…because you know that with a “life” sentence, he’ll be out again. Even in Florida.

Yep I watche a lot of it as well. ....it was riviting hereing how the shooter went throughout the school and afterwards.

The number of times he shot kids as he went - and then return to do it again. They call it mass murder for a reason.

The school district and sheriff’s dept avoided arresting Cruz despite the numerous alarms he raised.

>> It is a miscarriage of justice

Unfortunate the lens is focused solely on the psycho, and not those that actively ignore and effectively facilitate the psycho’s deranged desires.

This is a repeating pattern — and few seem to GAF.

The cops were whimps that fateful day!

Cruz should have been terminated with extreme prejudice right there at the school!

I’ve heard a few times people (analysts or legal types) feel this trial was “over-tried”. One guy commented that they could have taken 75% of what they did and it would be no different. The school building was even kept in tact (for years) and the jury had a tour. The seemingly endless testimonies and side shows put a certain emotional angle on the trial and caused it to drag on and distract from the actual crime. Juries don’t have this kind of patience and some start drifting with how they think.

I was thinking about this on the way home. Broward county is abundantly liberal. People there were faced with a conflict that didn’t agree with their world view of things. This didn’t happen at a ‘bad’ school, it was a mostly white school in a nice neighborhood. County leadership has always been a disaster. Look back and the county educational leadership, that’s been a mess. Four years later and they still don’t have their 911 system resolved. FOUR YEARS!?!?!?!

And look at everything that has come out of this. Commissions, attempts at laws, protests, etc. That all sounds great but honestly, why schools just can’t lock the damn door is beyond me. Lock the doors, one point of access, and you’re done. I heard a Iraq war vet say he could make a house in Mosul safer that some of these schools, even despite they have RPGs over there.

I’m not surprised at the sentencing. I might be surprised if they voted for the death penalty. We have a generation of people who have been taught to blame other people, objects and things for certain behaviors. (Its always the fault of something else.) This jury had such a person on it.

The best thing that can be done now, is take the shooter and do a deep dive into his mindset - psychologically. Away from the context of a “trial”, where both sides probably doctor shopped. I mean really figure out what he was thinking and how he rationalized it.

He will be living with many inmates who think what he did was BAD.

Inmates have been known to single out people like Cruz and give them the punishment that they deserve.

This isn’t a Bible Study Group that will surround him.

The CREEP.

Maybe the girls are not as “wicked” as the boys.

Besides, it is a little early, anything can happen.

Just thought of something, suppose she is setting up a little “business” to accommodate her cellmates.
