B12 is another factor in this and eating right doesn’t help me in terms of that issue.
I have got some really messed up DNA. Apparently MMA can accumulate in the B12 process and cause insulin resistance.
I had a Dr just throw metformin at the fasting glucose issue but it appears I only have a problem in the morning called dawn effect and the rest of the time I am okay.
I am confounded on how to solve a myriad of issues that are above the typical solutions.
I am shocked everyday at how much Drs don’t know that they should know..
If you are on metformin be sure to have your B12 checked
Mayo clinic has a great article on B12 from some European doctors.
If your B12 is below 400 but above 200 don’t let your Dr blow it off
Also if you have insulin problems look up dragon fruit.
In the US it is expensive but you could try the frozen kind.
Speaking of genetics, I know a old girl friend that has diabetes, I forgot which one but she’s normal sized, doesn’t eat sweets, active but wound up with early onset diabetes after turning sixty.
She’s one quarter Indian and was raised dirt poor but her diet through hard work has become more middle class.
I’ve heard that some tribes have a much higher rate of diabetes because of the typical American foodstuffs and I lean to believe that because for millennia, they have lived off the poorest of land and adapted to making the most of the nutrients they consumed.
At least that’s this uneducated opinion on the matter.
