The authors of the material emphasize that at the time of publication they were unable to independently confirm the identity of either the narrator himself or the identity of other persons appearing in the story.
“It all started with the fact that some of our soldiers, a Dagestani, an Azerbaijani and an Adyghe, said that “this is not our war” and tried to write a report that they did not want to serve anymore. Lieutenant Colonel Andrei Lapin, when he learned this through the company commander, gathered everyone and began to say that “this is a holy war,” says the narrator, whose name is not called for his safety.
According to the interlocutor, hearing about the "holy war" Muslims were indignant, since this concept "means a war of Muslims with infidels." Then Lapin called Allah a coward. This was the main reason for the further conflict, the narrator says, many were taken aback when they heard such a statement from the lieutenant colonel.
Within an hour and a half, everyone was sent to the shooting range, three natives of Tajikistan deployed their machine guns and shot Lapin, who died on the spot. They then opened fire indiscriminately. According to the narrator, he saw 30 dead, including Lapin. Two shooters were also killed, the third managed to escape. The military man also calls their names - Bikzot, Anush, and junior sergeant Ami. The last one managed to escape.
The military also notes that those who opened fire were ardent supporters of their faith and repeatedly cursed with the command for not being allowed to pray on time and for not being allocated a prayer room.

The terrorist Army major who murdered 13 colleagues and injured more than 30 others in a 2009 shooting rampage at Fort Hood cheered the Taliban in a triumphant victory message from death row.
“We Have Won!!!” Nidal Hasan wrote in a missive he asked his lawyer to pass along to the Taliban’s leadership, according to Fox News, which obtained a copy.
“All-Praises be to All-Mighty Allah! Congratulations on your victory over those who hate for the Laws of All-Mighty God to be supreme on the land,” the former Army psychiatrist wrote in the letter that he told his lawyer to forward to Afghanistan’s new rulers.
“I pray to Allah that He helps you implement Shariah Law fully, correctly, and fairly,” Hasan wrote, referring to the Islamic law the Taliban previously used to justify extreme punishments and severe restrictions on women’s rights.
“We must learn from the nations of the past and not let our wretchedness overcome us thus earning His (God’s) wrath,” added Hasan, writing from death row at Fort Leavenworth Prison in Kansas.

When you get shanghaied to fight a high casualty war against people you don't consider enemies where the odds of death or crippling injuries are high, these things happen. The New York draft riots had Irish draft evaders exchanging fire with Union troops and attacking black residents and abolitionists.
That’s often what happens when you tell everybody to look as you kick the Hornets Nest. Well, Lapin is one of the french words for Rabbit. Perhaps Lapin didn’t look before he leaped.
Nidal needs to be put down asap. He must be in isolation. I would have thought another prisoner would have “adminstered justice” by now.

The biggest elements are probably learning to finance, equip, train and lead an armed force. All of these factors are in play in some fashion in Ukraine, given the nation’s relatively low income per capita and skimpy, poverty-driven defense budget. Over a century ago, many of the men who led the efforts against China’s last titular emperor received their training in Japanese military academies.
Ukraine is risky as a training venue, but learning to fight there is probably way more useful to any would-be rebel than a formal stint at Sandhurst or West Point would be. Many of Ukraine’s war leaders, including the recently-departed leader of the Carpathian Sich, interact very closely with the rank and file, with funds and equipment not forthcoming from governmental sources being acquired through appeals for private contributions.
In other words, not materially different from what George Washington did to organize the American Revolution. It’s not rocket science, but does require a good deal of ingenuity, creativity and sheer gut-it-out tenacity. Easy to parrot for a test at some academy, but not so easy to implement in the field.
Hassan carried out an unprovoked premeditated attack on a random target chosen to maximize casualties. I was on Fort Hood and was about 10 blocks away. Two soldiers from my battalion were there, though fortunately neither was killed or wounded.
From the limited and potentially inaccurate information available, these men were conscripted into someone else’s war, heard their religion insulted, then the Russians then thoughtfully provided them weapons and ammo with which to wreak vengeance.
The comparisons are superficial at best.
Step 1: insult the religion of already disgruntled soldiers.

Lieutenant Colonel Andrey Lapin is/was the son of Colonel General Aleksandr Lapin, who runs the entire war effort in the North East front. LTCOL Lapin is the Commander of the 1st Guards Tank Regiment, and suffered major defeats in the battles for Chernahiv (on the way to Kyiv) and Kupyansk/Lyman. At this point I question the validity of reports he was killed. If he was it’s pretty significant politically, if not militarily.
