The Utah-based Ute Indian Tribe says the Biden administration failed to formally consult their government before designating Camp Hale-Continental Divide National Monument in Colorado this week—a process required by federal law.

I guess they put Chapoose on the caboose.
Indians should know better by now. To democrats they are just stage props.
Hey Chapoose, you may want to wash those blankets Biden gave you in hot water before you use them.
excerpt from the piece:
“Biden used his authority under the Antiquities Act to designate the new 53,804-acre monument, which includes Camp Hale, a former Army base where the 10th Mountain Division trained to fight in World War II. It is located within the homelands of the tribe’s Uncompahgre Band, who were forced out of the area by the U.S. in 1880.”

53,804 acres located on the continental divide west of Denver & east of Grand Junction.
the last time I remember the gummit laying claim to such a large piece of western real estate was when bubba laid claim to the Grand Escalante Monument in Utah.
of course bubba put the massive coal fields on the Grand Escalante off limits for mining to pay off his financial backer, moctmar riady (who’s country indonesia also sets on comparable coal rich reserves).
I know there are mineral and petro-carbon operations in the rocky mountain area, and I’m wondering why biden (3 weeks before the midterms) is out west claiming massive acreage instead of campaigning for close race in the 4 corners states??
<><> ANY HELP FROM COLORADO, UTAH, NM OR AZ FReepers is welcome!
The idea of having a sovereign nation within a sovereign nation is a stupid one. Especially when the larger one supports the smaller one financially.
They didn’t pay their 10%.......................
There’s a common bumper sticker I see from time to time:
Do not trust the government.
Just ask any Indian............
” ...where the 10th Mountain Division trained to fight in World War II... “
Ya don’t saaaaay....
10th Mountain Division, huh?
I agree. Stop funding them.
Law? Democrats don't need no stinkin laws, don't you know?
How many laws can one president break before his actions rise to the level of high crimes and misdemeanors?
The Ute Nation fared better than other tribes in the 19th century. They decided not to fight the white settlers and the US Army. This means the Army did not crush them body and soul like other tribes.
The government gave them chunks of Utah and Colorado, which by happy accident ended up being rich in underground resources, and they’re making bank today.
“ required by federal law”
Interpreted by Brandon as “optional,”
But, meanwhile, decisions are being made by fools.
"What frustrated us is that they didn’t want us there to comment, they wanted us there for the photo opp,” Chapoose told the AP, adding that he was invited to the event, but left out of frustration. “I don’t expect them to roll out a red carpet, but I expect a little common courtesy. If I’m just going to be one of the Indians that you want to photograph, I’m the wrong Indian to call."
.
But honestly, I was hoping that the "blast" was a destructive explosion - with NO injuries (in case the FBI is reading this).
The US feral government is exempt from US feral law.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
well hopefully that keeps them out of the discount tobacco business.
I took a jeep tour up to the mountain where they trained. There are still objects from those days lying around; ration cans, the occasional article of clothing...the survival rate for the trainees was about 40%, IIRC.
There’s a large recreational facility at the base of the mountain where we booked the tour, that has a display about Camp Hale. Our jeep driver had a law degree, but chucked his career to do what he loves.
