The commander of Russian forces in Ukraine says the situation in the southern city of Kherson is "difficult" and residents are to be evacuated.
General Sergei Surovikin said Ukrainian troops using Himars rockets were hitting the city's infrastructure and housing. He spoke on Russian state TV.
"The Russian army will above all ensure the safe evacuation of the population" of Kherson, he said.
His rare admission of big problems was echoed by a top local official.
Russian-installed regional official Kirill Stremousov warned Kherson residents that "in the very near future" Ukrainian troops would launch an assault on the city.
"Please take my words seriously - I'm talking about evacuating as quickly as possible," he said on the Telegram messaging service. He added that people on the River Dnieper's west bank (called Dnipro in Ukraine) were most at risk.

The drivels are getting crazier as we speak. Take into account that the Russians are evaluating civilians whereas the Ukrainians are shooting whose who try to flee.
You mean “tense” as in “tense” of the possibility of a dam being blown by the Ukrainians.....
Other than that, Russian drag in and destroy is working effectively.
How’s that for the Understatement of the Year?
Not just Brits can be subtle.
I still remember your sobbing of late. Did you stop being a Nazi?
Read a few articles the other day that indicated that it’s back on the rise in Germany. Go figure. No doubt, this coming winter and early next months of 2023 will amplify it more.
I still remember your sobbing of late. Did you stop being a Nazi?
I have in-laws in Germany. They don’t drive and rarely shower anymore, there is a shortage of frozen food, bread and toilet paper, but they think it is temporary and going to force green transition:) How can you fix stupid?
This does seem like a Russian ploy to bait the UA forces into another “George Custer offensive”. In the autumn mud of the Dnieper Delta, no less.
Green transition = dependency on foreign manufacturing and mining, like wind turbines made by the Chicoms.
It really is about a dam that is being targeted by the Ukies.
I posted this in another thread:
Areas of Kherson are being evacuated due to flood risk from the possible destruction of the upstream dam at Kakhovka.
From the Governor:
ÄThere is an immediate danger of flooding of territories due to the planned destruction of the Kakhovskaya HPP dam and the release of water from the cascade of power plants upstream of the Dnieper. In such a situation, I took the difficult but correct decision to announce the organized relocation of the civilian population of Beryslav, Bilozersk, Snigiryivka, and Aleksandrovsk municipalities to the left bank of the Dnieper.
This decision is prompted by the creation of large-scale defensive fortifications so that any attack can be repelled. There is no place for civilians where the military operates. Let the Russian army carry out its task.
Under these conditions, our key task is to save human lives and allow the troops of the Russian Federation to effectively perform their functions in defending the Kherson region. We will be removing the civilian population to the left bank in an orderly, step-by-step manner.
For those residents of the region who decide to move on, to the regions of Russia, the Russian Government will provide housing certificates. This was specifically announced by Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin. The relocation and temporary accommodation of residents of Beryslavskiy, Bilozerskiy, Snigirevskiy, and Aleksandrovskiy municipalities will be free of charge, by the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation and the Government of Kherson region.
I ask everyone to keep calm and not to listen to alarmists, Kherson region remains under the reliable protection of the Russian army. Our cause is just. We know it and our enemy knows it. And the victory will be ours.(So no panic just removing civilians to safe areas, removing them from danger if Kakhovka HPP is sabotaged in any way)”

“Flooding zones and elevations around the dam of the Novaya Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant...”

My summation is that if dam is blown, Ukies will claim Russia did it and Ukies will claim a military and political victory for Russia retreating from those areas effected/affected knowing full well that if the dam is destroyed, most of Kherson becomes indefensible.
Be careful, they may end up spending the winter with you and they may not be what you had in mind...:-)
Situation is tense...
How about Russia withdraws to pre-war borders, and makes the
situation past tense...
I have in-laws in Germany. They don’t drive and rarely shower anymore, there is a shortage of frozen food, bread and toilet paper, but they think it is temporary and going to force green transition:) How can you fix stupid? All not true, except it could be they don't happen to drive.
The EU is starting to bark at China as well.
Makes sense:)
Destruction of that dam can only provoke a massive missile strike escalation and loss of over 50% of Ukrainian energy infrastructure. Is Zelensky really that insane? / [rhetorical question]
The current US government has been bought by the Chinese.
