'It's strategic petroleum reserve, not the political petroleum reserve': Republicans tear into Biden's 'absurd' plan to take out 15 million oil barrels - and urge him to tap into domestic energy

Republican lawmakers have been criticizing President Joe Biden on Wednesday over his plan to release 15 million oil barrels from the strategic petroleum reserve.

The GOP also renewed its calls for Biden to tap further into sources of domestic energy production, as gas prices continue to fluctuate after reaching an all-time high average price per gallon in June.

'It's strategic petroleum reserve, not the political petroleum reserve,' House Foreign Affairs committee ranking member Rep. Michael McCaul of Texas told Fox News host Harris Faulkner.

Joe Biden would sacrifice our security just to win an election. We can all see that now

It’s a reserve to use when we are attacked or when Putin sets off a nuke somewhere .
It’s not there to lower prices so a dumb nuts President can get re-elected .
What’s happens when the SPR is emptied and then Putin sets off a nuke?
Dipsticks….

I saw Biden on the telly today lambasting big oil for daring to profit off of oil. No mention of local, state and federal governments forgoing their cut of the pie. Go figure.

What happens when it runs out? Will this just be ‘transition pain’? And/or does Biden and Harris really think they can simply dump the blame on Republicans?

Oil company, refiner plus gas station profits combined don’t equal the taxes on gasoline, let alone when income taxes on those profits are included.

How much more can he release? Will he stop with election day? Once that runs out, how quickly will prices rise? Maybe $7.50 by Thanksgiving, $10 by Christmas?

We've already seen $6.99 gas here in Reno at one station so easy to see the prices jump.

And the government will have to deplete available supplies to refill the reserve or leave it empty.

At what point will Americans openly protest?

He won’t do it because it’ll add to global warming so he has to take it from the reserve to prevent that. /sarc

A bunch of loud rhetoric from a man who is demanding the taxpayers pay $500,000 to ‘fence in’ his .34 acre of property at his BEACH home.

Approx 13,100 sq ft==

131 feet X 100 feet ?????

LESS than 500 running feet of fence & it costs $500,000???

$1000 a foot????

I fenced in over 5 acres:

Perimeter fencing = 389 X 630 with 3 sets of entrance gates, each 32’ wide.

Then I out in 12 enclosures for horses.

6 are steel pens==12 X 24...so I didn’t “Fence” there.

The rest are 440’ X 130’/ 440’ X 130’/ 470’ X 128’/ 48’ X 48/
48’ X 48’/ and a half circle about 70’ X 110’. Have both Hot Wire & other strands. OVER 2 1/2 MILES of HOT WIRE.

Had 4 persons working on it 7 days a week for 13 1/2 weeks-—and I spent about $85,000 on it, including 5 sun shelters.

NO WHERE NEAR $1,000 a running foot...

Another Biden Boondoggle.

I get your point but in the end it’s us taxpayers that are forced to put out.😀

The Keystone pipeline was to deliver over 800,000 barrels each day but Biden and Warren Buffett shut it down.

Simple math... 2 Government Contractors x 13,100 sqft ÷ Joe’s 10% - rhetoric + equity + inclusions ÷ square root of woke = $500,000

See, it’s simple!

I can nsderbit Devine intervention that the Democrats blacked Trump from buying oil at $24/ barrel to fill reserve. If Biden could have sustained a drop in oil prices the Democrats may be more competitive

15 million barrels is about 18 hours worth of US consumption.

And he has done that two or three times at an average of every two to three months?
Meanwhile the Saudis are cutting production 2 ml. bbls per day every day.

He’s pissing away the SPR and it won’t affect oil prices a bit. Gas price at the pump not at all.
Speculators are going to take it into account at all.
