Heating oil suppliers in the Northeast and New England have begun rationing the key fuel ahead of winter, after stockpiles dropped to a third of their normal levels.
Concerns are rising that supply shortages and soaring prices will leave families in the cold this winter...
This year, New England's inventories of stockpiled heating oil are about 70 percent lower than their average level since 1993...
Supplies are lower this year due to the same factors impacting world oil markets, including the failure to rebuild production capacity following the pandemic, and disruptions from Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
The rationing measures, intended to prevent panic buying and hoarding, are in turn being imposed on consumers, limiting the amount of heating oil they can purchase, said Herb.

I live in New England. And I am praying for a harsh winter here in NE and also in Europe. The stupid people must be made to realize the consequences of their stupidity.

I have owned three houses in the suburbs/rural parts of southern NH west of Nashua. None of these houses had a natural gas line out front. FYI, all of my houses all had a drilled well and septic system.
So, the only option is either heating oil or propane.
Where I grew up in western NYS EVERY house had natural gas. That is because it literally leaks out of the ground around there.
Yes, there was a proposed Kinder Morgan pipeline that was defeated because of the NIMBY folks. That pipeline had to go through anti fracking NY and MA to get to NH.
Time to stock up on wood pellets.
FYI, a full cord of firewood here in southern NH is now around $350-375 cut, split and delivered. Although, some are adding a fuel surcharge depending on the distance to deliver.
In my CT very rural area everyone has wood stoves.
I remember a couple of decades ago after we bought the house someone tried to convince us to install an oil tank for heating.
I laughed at them.
The guy asked “why are you laughing at me”.
I answered “remember Jimmy Carter”?
I live in New England and I didn’t vote for this but I’ll be paying the price. My heating cost will most likely double this winter.
