I don’t understand it either. I’m white and college educated but then I went to college back in the day when we were encouraged to think for ourselves.
I think some of it may be that it’s “trendy” to be leftist, just like it’s trendy to wear certain brands of clothing and shoes, carry certain brands of purses, eat at certain restaurants, and so on.
Maybe because they made their causes trendy as well? Trendy to support transition and pronouns, trendy to support climate change, trendy to support woman’s rights aka abortion- they flaunt and wear support like a badge of honor. No self esteem from within
