During a campaign stop on Nov. 2, 2020, then-President Donald Trump touted the low gasoline prices of the time and warned that if Joe Biden became president, Americans would end up paying $7, $8, even $9 a gallon.
Trump also said that, in response to those high gas prices, the Biden administration would tell people to get rid of their cars.
"It's an incredible thing that's happened over the last few years, a lot of great things," said Trump. "And you’re paying, what, $2 a gallon for your gasoline?
If Biden got in, you’d be paying $7, $8, $9. Then they’d say, 'Get rid of your car.'"
Currently, the average price for a gallon of gas is $4.17. In blue California, the average is $5.44 per gallon.
On Sunday, ABC7 reported that a gas station in Los Angeles was selling regular gasoline for $6.99 per gallon. The "plus" grade of gasoline was selling for $7.19 a gallon. (See video report here.)
Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg touted "clean energy" and electric cars, stating, "Clean transportation can bring significant cost savings to the American people as well. Last month we announced the $5 billion investment for a nationwide electric vehicle charging network, so that people from rural, to suburban, to urban communities can all benefit from the gas savings of driving an EV [electric vehicle].”
Also on Monday, Vice President Kamala Harris urged Americans to "imagine a future" with electric vehicles.

oh man. as a complete unknown, he was within striking distance in the primary. I’ll ask about signs, maybe he doesn’t have the money for them. I just walked a precinct for Peter in SJ and am in the process of walking another.

Do y’all realize just how long this mess is going to last because of under investment in oil and gas? Years and years and years probably even if the end of this monstrosity of a term results in a complete reversal of policy.
There will not be any respite even if the house and spinate become all conservative. The monstrosity of regulation will prevent any meaningful change for the better.
And this mess has all been created by this administration. Totally artificial causes for an energy crisis and inflation.
