Wonder what countries getting all the SPR oil are slated to sell it back as diesel?

The only trains on the general railway network (excludes subways and trolleys) that don’t rely on diesel these days are certain commuter trains in the metro areas of NYC, Philly, Washington DC and Chicago. Everything else needs diesel fuel. There are no electric mainline freights any more.

I routinely drive by two of the biggest rail switching and maintenance yards for Burlington and Union Pacific. Just like airports they have massive diesel tanks on property.

I doubt they are half full. Most likely they are topped off.

But I expect the rail strike to start on or around the 3rd week of November.

Actually, diesel fuel is safe to store and carry. It is way safer than gasoline.

It sounded like he has a gas vehicle.

I have both and know that Diesel is WAY better for longer term storage and transport from a safety standpoint.

Unfortunately Diesel has been more costly/gal for better than a decade. Sucks.

“There are no electric mainline freights any more.”

Somehow the Milwaukee Road screwed up, big time, some decades ago. They had a sweet deal 300V DC electric setup in Montana and I-da-ho.

Question. I am taking my kid to Florida the week we are supposed to run out of diesel. We are slated to run out while the two of us are in Florida. Should I go to Florida and risk not being able to get back to the ghetto where I live? If diesel trucks can’t deliver gasoline then there is no gas to get home. If I risk it and if I can’t get back to the ghetto would it be better just to stay in Florida and leave my stuff behind?

You should count your blessings for God's good grace that you're in Florida.

They once had the longest electrified network in the country, which they de-electrified by 1977.

Quite a sad story too, which involved the railroad business at large; the left in state governments generally gave tax breaks to truckers for decades while piling the taxes on the railroads, making even electric operation untenable financially.

... or re-positioning their fleets in preparation for a shut-down. You don’t want to leave trucks stranded hundreds of miles from their terminals.

“Some gas stations have already increased diesel prices which initiates a trickle-down effect.
I still have a ~350 day supply in my Tactical Reserve.
++++++++++++++

Like but we have a 760 day tactical reserve of canned beans. Lots of the ranchero spicy too/ You cannot eat diesel but you can eat beans. Lots of hot sauce for added firepower. For when Kamalas Feds n FBI n EnnnnSA burst in for no good reason

humm I wonder if that is why I’m seeing a lot of military helicopter flying over my trailer park which is near a Air National guard base. Maybe they are trying to get their exercises out of the way before the price of their fuel go up big time. I live just south of Murfreesboro, TN.

There are a few gasoline trains. They give off a heat signature like a volcano.
