“I’m with a pretty good company and they take care of us pretty good,” he said.

Over the years, he’s seen diesel prices go up and down, but lately, he’s noticing an uptick in certain cities. Not only that, but he also is concerned about supply.

“It’s going up and going up... when you can find it,” said Mullis.

His concerns are warranted. Mansfield Energy Corporation issued a supply alert, saying poor pipeline shipping economics and historically low diesel inventories are all combining to cause a shortage in parts of the southeast. Some gas stations have already increased diesel prices which initiates a trickle-down effect.

Word will travel about this fast. Not only trucks, but trains are reliant for the most part on diesel. And the timing couldn’t be better than right before the election.

My guess is that it could cost $1 trillion+ *a day*, and that will affect all high turnover retailers, grocery stores, you name it.

This week i saw a noticeable increase in commercial truck and concrete/dumptruck traffic. I am believing they are going to the floor to get as many jobs in as possible while the trucks they have are still running and diesel is still available.

We’ll see how this upcoming week is, if the trend continues.

“Some gas stations have already increased diesel prices which initiates a trickle-down effect.”

NOT my fault.

I still have a ~350 day supply in my Tactical Reserve.

I haven’t bought any since last Spring [I’m pretty sure that Winter Diesel can be successfully run all year ‘round].

YMMV [Mine is 45-50 mpg]

the futures markets are not confirming this news ... wholesale diesel fuel prices have been in a sideways range since March ... in spite of all the energy scares ... they should have skyrocketed by now ...

Question. I am taking my kid to Florida the week we are supposed to run out of diesel. We are slated to run out while the two of us are in Florida.

Should I go to Florida and risk not being able to get back to the ghetto where I live? If diesel trucks can’t deliver gasoline then there is no gas to get home.

If I risk it and if I can’t get back to the ghetto would it be better just to stay in Florida and leave my stuff behind?

Diesel was still $5 / gal in the NW Atlanta far suburbs as of Friday mid day, FWIW. It was the same a week prior.

What are you driving? If it's a pickup you can safely store a lot of fuel in the bed. 100 gallon add-on tank is typical.

It’s something having to do with the East Coast. The problem seems to be localized, there was a map that showed possible shortages from Alabama and Georgia up the East Coast to Maine.

Is it a pipeline, low water levels in the rivers or something?

I have to get to Atlanta (no problem) then down to Florida.

Florida looks safe. But the trip back is the problem. One tank of gas gets me out of Florida but not through Georgia and Alabama.
