They are VERY nervous about state legislatures having the powers that they (before the Warren court, etc.) were originally granted.

They like ALL power being centralized.

“… impose a Republican government on the country by allowing state legislatures to set election rules on their own, without any pesky interference by their governors or state courts.…”
************************************************************

Well, the US Constitution is very clear and succinct on this point.

We’ve had a republican form of government for over 200 years.

Soros-controlled AZ Democrat Secretary of State candidate Adrian Fontes - a key architect of the 2020 Maricopa County election theft - had been putting out campaign signs reading "Protect Our Democracy".

His new ones say "Protect Our Republic". Somebody is worried about the messaging...

Will the Supreme Court impose a Republican government on the US?

The Supreme Court essentially imposed a Democrat government on the US in 2020.

New definitions incoming:

"impose" - When real, live, actual voters vote and elect Republicans.

"not impose" - When Democrats are allowed to cheat to their hearts content to win elections.

When reading an article is the writer uses the term “ultra” to describe ANYTHING, stop reading. Ultra is the 2022 version of “very, very.” It indicates the laziness of the writer.

This applies to articles written by the “right” as well.

America has become illiterate. Don’t let it happen to you.

Quote: “ . . . .presents the question of whether a state legislature, acting completely on its own, can set rules governing federal elections in the state, even rules that are contrary to the state’s laws”

Where to start here: 1) if the Constitution says that the legislatures are supreme in deciding these matters, then is it really against “state law.” 2) It isn’t contrary to the state’s laws if the legislatures act within the Constitution to set the election law. That is the law.

Typical of the left. They always seek and only recognize the authority that they control or supports their position as being “the law” or “ the authority.”

As to this case, I am sure Roberts will cave. The others I am not so sure of.

“...uestion of whether a state legislature, acting completely on its own, can set rules governing federal elections in the state, even rules that are contrary to the state’s laws. “

This is an oxymoron.

The state legislature makes the state laws. So if the state legislature sets the rules governing the elections in the state, then THOSE ARE THE NEW LAWS

It’s right in the US Constitution and the language is clear. State legislatures set the rules for their state, regardless of what Jim Jones (spit) thinks.

I can’t believe how evil and communist the media is in America. Not just certain outlets, but EVERY SINGLE “mainstream” outlet, due to rampant nepotism and incestuous relations with DC politicians.

My take is that the constitution leaves it to the states unless there is non republican form of government as in cheating. A state cannot be allowed to cheat because that effects the entire country. So only if a state enacts rules that cause cheating can they be taken to task by the Federal government. And only to stop the policies leading to cheating. And there are several states doing that. If a state like CA can do whatever they want there then will never be another honest election there every again.

The ultra-conservative majority of the U.S. Supreme Court seems poised to make a slight variation in that language. That is, to impose a Republican government on the country by allowing state legislatures to set election rules on their own, without any pesky interference by their governors or state courts.

Only for President, and exactly as laid out by Article II Section 1 of the Constitution:

Section 4 Each State shall appoint, in such Manner as the Legislature thereof may direct, a Number of Electors, equal to the whole Number of Senators and Representatives to which the State may be entitled in the Congress: but no Senator or Representative, or Person holding an Office of Trust or Profit under the United States, shall be appointed an Elector.

The language in the Constitution was intended to provide a backup to the elector selection process when the legislature in a state determines that an election was illegally conducted or otherwise corrupted and invalid. It specifically removes this important function from the judicial power and places it with “the people” through their representatives.

You can’t assume that representatives will ignore evidence and only vote along party lines in a critical function like this. The same holds for the impeachment process that requires a bipartisan supermajority to remove an executive or judicial branch official from their power.

MSM makes the elitist and snarky assumption that “the people” are too stupid and partisan to manage their own country. Let’s go back to a king or, even better, a dictator.
