Actually there is some truth in that. The explosion of national debt started under the Bush Cheney neocon doctrine of establishing American global hegemony [the Wolfowitz doctrine created under the supervision of Cheney]. Global war costs money, lots of it, and debt skyrocketed. Since debt didn’t matter, everyone kept saying, why not ever more debt. Here we are.
