REVEALED: Kanye West can't sell 'White Lives Matter' apparel because the trademark is owned by two black activists who want to prevent anyone from 'profiting off the pain' of phrase
Daily Mail ^ | November 2, 2022 | Keith Griffith

Two black radio hosts have revealed that they own the trademark to the phrase 'White Lives Matter,' preventing the artist formerly known as Kanye West or anyone else from profiting off the controversial phrase.

Ramses Ja and Quinton Ward, Phoenix-based activists and hosts of the nationally syndicated radio show Civic Cipher, revealed their trademark rights in a recent interview with radio station KRRL-FM.

'We are the holder of the federal trademark for White Lives Matter,' said Ja. 'If you want to sell that shirt, you have to come knock on my door, or you have to face Morris, my lawyer.'...

Ja and Ward explained that the trademark for 'White Lives Matter' was originally registered by one of their listeners, who transferred it to them in a process that was recently completed.

'This person who first procured it didn't really love owning it, because the purpose was not necessarily to get rich off of it; the purpose was to make sure that other people didn't get rich off of that pain,' Ja told the news site Capital B.

Ja and Ward say that they plan to enforce their trademark rights to ensure any use of the phrase ultimately goes to benefit black and brown communities.

'We know that phrases like 'White Lives Matter,' 'All Lives Matter,' and 'Blue Lives Matter' continue to cause harm and to dilute the narrative that was intended to be established by Black Lives Matter,' Ja told Capital B.

'Those phrases are piggybacking off of black people's creativity and efforts, so we're all for helping to use this as a measure to allow black people to retain a little bit of ownership,'

A review of federal records confirms that Civic Cipher LLC is the owner of the 'White Lives Matter' trademark, first registered on October 3.

Five years from now they will be has-beens. The Negro gimmick won't sell anymore. On to a new gimmick.

Eventually Ja and Ward will realize they can make millions selling WLM apparal......and they’ll do it.

The media hacks will get their “10% for the big guy” to generate free hysterics (publicity) while Ja and Ward reap the benefits of capitalism.

All God’s Children’s Lives Matter.

That’s the best way to put it.

Not a huge problem. Just change or add a word. Change the spelling a wee bit and that would give you a “new” slogan.
Example: “White Lives Matter 2”

https://www.uspto.gov/trademarks/trademark-timelines/section-1b-timeline-application-based-intent-use

This link explains the process. You are right this application was filed as “intent to do commerce”. I believe these statements by the registrants will kill this application very early.

“I believe these statements by the registrants will kill this application very early.”

Do you still think the playing field is fair? Watch some Biden hack make sure these Trademarks fly through the process forever nullifying there use.

The justice system and his picks in almost every aspect of government are left-wing nut jobs. I have no reason not to believe that there isn’t some transgender nutjob in charge of patents now.

Well now we know who to sue for terrorism... as per the judge claiming it only was a movement, not an organization-terrorist

I recall an excellent movie Flash of Genius, where the inventor of intermittent windshield wipers, Robert Kearns, takes on GM who stole his idea and never recognized nor paid him for his invention.

In the move, he couldn't get an attorney to represent him so he represented himself and posed a brilliant defense with;

(regarding GM's claim that Kearns didn't invent the wiper but just put already existing components together.)

(Kearns) Is the word "it" copyrighted ?, is the word "was" copyrighted ?, is the word "the" copyrighted ?. . .

. . and GM lawyers were outrsaged in court, but the judge drew out that The BOOK, A Tale of Two Cities is indeed copyrighted, and that the opening line, "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times" is a copyrighted phrase within a copyrighted book, but the words that make UP the phrase are not themselves copyrighted.

In the current vernacular, Kanye might better say, “WHITE LIFES MATTER’

If he steals my idea, I’m good with a 10% cut…

How can you “trademark” or “copyright” a common phrase?
