1. Trademarks can be challenged. I wish I were a billionaire. I'd hired top attorneys to challenge this, just to hassle these guys with lawfare.

2. Imagine if a white person had registered "Black Lives Matter." Would it be respected? Would there be riots? Demands for its return plus reparations? Would the Patent & Trademark Office cancel or transfer the trademark?

Not a huge problem. Just change or add a word. Change the spelling a wee bit and that would give you a “new” slogan.
Example: “White Lives Matter 2”

Well now we know who to sue for terrorism... as per the judge claiming it only was a movement, not an organization-terrorist

I recall an excellent movie Flash of Genius, where the inventor of intermittent windshield wipers, Robert Kearns, takes on GM who stole his idea and never recognized nor paid him for his invention.

In the move, he couldn't get an attorney to represent him so he represented himself and posed a brilliant defense with;

(regarding GM's claim that Kearns didn't invent the wiper but just put already existing components together.)

(Kearns) Is the word "it" copyrighted ?, is the word "was" copyrighted ?, is the word "the" copyrighted ?. . .

. . and GM lawyers were outrsaged in court, but the judge drew out that The BOOK, A Tale of Two Cities is indeed copyrighted, and that the opening line, "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times" is a copyrighted phrase within a copyrighted book, but the words that make UP the phrase are not themselves copyrighted.

In the current vernacular, Kanye might better say, “WHITE LIFES MATTER’

If he steals my idea, I’m good with a 10% cut…

How can you “trademark” or “copyright” a common phrase?
