There is more than one prison out there that has gone to the “what’s on the menu or nothing” mindset.

That’s a tradition that should probably be ended.
It’s food wasted.
Besides, having a full belly may slow down the effectiveness of that last injection.

I prefer what I recall as the Japanese way of not letting the condemned know the date of execution ahead of time.

McVeigh had two pints of mint and chocolate chip ice cream before his 2001 lethal injection death.

````````````````````````````````````
There’s a word for “two pints.”
I’ve always wondered how anyone could have an appetite when they know they are hours from death. I wouldn’t be able to eat at all.
I can’t drink regular ‘coke’. It’s too sticky sweet.
"In Ancient Greece, you had to feed the person who was going to be executed, so that they could cross the River Styx into the underworld, and not come back as a hungry ghost," the paper states.
Me neither.
A gallon of Kettle One Vodka and the fixin’s for 20+ Bloody Marys, would do just fine, though.
I don’t know, man, if they put a pint of cookie dough ice cream in front of me...
I say let them order the meal, just tell them they can’t have it until after the lethal injection.
The very reason I drink Diet Coke too. Unsweetened tea too.
I’m not overweight either.
That pretty much goes for all soda that is not unsweetened.
I think, but I can’t swear to it, that Texas did away with the “last meal” thing a few years ago.
In Japan, every meal is the “Last meal” for the condemned prisoner. The Japanese notify the prisoners only on the morning of their executions that today’s the day they hang.
It keeps the rabble and families and lawyers out of the way.
I know! I’ve never understood why that is even a tradition. How could you possibly enjoy the meal?
