Hey, so remember that time the other day when President Joe Biden promised that “we’re gonna be shutting these [coal] plants down all across America”?

Remember how the following day, Biden’s press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre attempted — quite poorly — to walk Biden’s remarks back? She claimed that his remarks had “been twisted” by people with bad intentions, and that he was really and truly and sincerely sorry if anyone took his comments to mean that he was promising to shut down coal plants when he said he’d shut down coal plants. “I apologize if you were offended,” basically.
Ironic that Karine Jean-Pierre would accuse others of twisting the president’s words while she twisted herself into an intellectual pretzel.
Anyway, today, she once again insisted that Biden’s remarks had been “twisted.”
Karine Jean-Pierre again denies that Biden wants to shut down coal power plants after he literally said "we’re going to be shutting these plants down all across America."
"These weren't some novel comments as they were taken and twisted to be ... it was twisted by many others."
But in addition to that, she also reminded us that “it was loud and hard to hear”:

A reporter asks why the White House felt the need to walk back Biden's comments on shutting down coal plants:
"It was loud and hard to hear...The president's words we believe were twisted...[Biden] has spent his presidency fighting for coal communities..."
OK, well, let’s listen again:

BIDEN ON COAL:

Seems pretty clear to us. The only thing we hear is Joe Biden … saying that “we’re gonna be shutting these plants down all across America.”
Jean-Pierre says that Joe Biden saying "We're going to shut down coal plants all over America" was "being twisted" because he was actually talking about "an energy transition and the need to support coal communities through it"... which would also involve shutting down coal.
Biden’s words weren’t “twisted.” There was no “confusion.” We know exactly what he said.
Hopefully enough Americans show up to vote the Democrats out of office at every level of government.

Ok, then, so we simply misunderstood, what Biden said.
We are not to listen to what he actually said. What he actually said doesn’t matter, what matters is what Karine Jean-Pierre tells us he meant by what he said.
Or as in this case, it was so noisy, we all misheard what was said.
