An entire battalion of Russian mobilised men was wiped out within days of being sent to the frontline in Ukraine, survivors have told Russian opposition media.
The soldiers had been ordered to the frontline in Luhansk, Donbas, and then told to dig trenches, the Verstka news agency said in an unverified report.
“We had three shovels per battalion and there were no provisions at all. We dug in as best we could and in the morning the shelling started from artillery and helicopters. We were simply shot,” Agafonov, the alleged unit survivor, said.
“When it all started the officers simply ran away.”
Verstka quoted Agafonov as saying that out of a battalion of 570 men, most had been killed.

If true...there would be hundreds of videos of the bodies and the Ukraine would have made a stamp.

I don’t think there are many on either side of this conflict who want to stay in the fight. It’s brutal warfare and lines of supplies are being suffered on both sides.
Both sides should sue for peace.
That’s the logical conclusion.
Russia and NATO should leave Ukraine alone to their own destiny, but that’s a pipe dream unfortunately.

The trenches the Russians dug this summer are now about 300 miles behind Ukrainian lines.
When you’re running for your life like the Russians were you probably leave the shovels behind.

Such claims without photographs or independent verification are often propaganda. When the Russians forced the German 6th army to surrender at Stalingrad the Russians released photos of the huge numbers of captured, disarmed Germans and even videos of the German commander Von Paulus being interrogated. Those photos not only showed the world that Russia could and would win but made it clear to the German people that they were doomed.
