Washington examiner ^ | Brady knox

Former President Donald Trump unleashed a fiery screed Thursday evening critical of Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL), who triumphed in his reelection campaign this week and is increasingly seen as a strong candidate to challenge Trump for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination.

So apparently now conservatives are fighting amongst themselves.

Trump’s statement is poorly timed.

And so is all this in-fighting.

We are facing a communist revolution and we fight each other.

Are we no different then the Jews who fought each other as Romans lay siege to Jerusalem??

I think DeSantis is beginning to regret not giving Trump a ticket on the plane to Martha’s Vinyard to give him a little time to chill out.

To the contrary, this reminds me of that saying that if your opponent is destroying himself, don't get in the way. Trump is now, all in his own, making a successful DeSantis candidacy significantly more possible. And DeSantis is smart enough to just sit back, say nothing, and just let Trump just keep digging his own hole.

“Very bad for Trump, and it will cost him my vote.”

Did he sell out to the Left? Make deals with the left? No....he’s stood against them unlike any other President since Reagan. So you will turn against him for saying something you don’t like?

He’s fought so hard, and may even go to prison. What have we done besides sit behind our keyboards?

Are we this disloyal?

>>Comparing apples to oranges. Cruz was never a governor.<<
Ted Cruz was a very accomplished solicitor general for the great state of Texas. Fought the Obama administration dozens of times and won for the citizens of Texas.

Cruz is a constitutional conservative and we are very proud of his service in the senate.

That said, Ron DeSantis is a strong conservative governor. He would make a fine presidential candidate if he decides to run.

With all this back and forth, it makes me wonder why Trump is picking this fight. He’s picking a fight with a fellow Republican ,who is potentially a valuable ally going forward, and who just won to major election victory.

I guess my question to people here would be , do you think it was a good idea for Trump to pick this fight? How does it benefit Trump to pick this fight?

Since when is voting a popularity contest?

And as for your assessment of DeSantis, I’d have to conclude there’s a bit of projection going on there.

How does your governor compare to DeSantis?

Trump fights like a bully in a high school back yard. But that quality is not what elects presidents. If Trump is the nominee in 2024, he loses even more than in 2020.

Hillary brings out conservatives out of the woodwork to vote against her. That helped Trump win and also because Trump’s high school back yard bully behavior was not known. In 2020 Trump brought out millions of people out of the woodwork to vote against him.

Trump has done extremely useful job of showing us MAGA. Sadly his personality is his worst enemy and he has no chance to win in 2024.

“DeSantis is the hero of the moment” Ah and therein lies the issue. DeSantis is the hero of the moment and Trump can’t stand that. He expected that his candidate would be a major component of the Red Wave and he’d be hailed as genius. The wave didn’t come, and his candidates didn’t do well. He’s getting the blame, maybe undeserved, and he can’t deal with that. So, he does what he does best, he lashes out at people. It was funny when he was doing it to Nancy and Chuck. But when you’re doing it to a strong, successful GOP governor who may be our best shot in 2024, it’s stupid and childish.

“ Smartest thing DeSantis can do is to come out and say he’s not running in 2024. A do it quick before this gets any uglier. It’s a no win situation for him.”
*********************************************************************

At this point and with what has been said… WHY WOULD HE DO TRUMP THAT FAVOR? Seriously, why would he?

Some of you need to jump off the Trump Train before it’s too late. 2024 is coming, the bridge is out and Trump is more than willing to bring you all down with him as it plunges into a ravine.

We don’t underestimate him that’s why we’re not going to let him snip from the woods like he’s currently doing. On day 1 of his second term as Governor that Repuke is going to start running for President like Obama did. Just another scummy politician who refuses to keep his word.
