GOP starts boosting Walker in runoff amid calls to keep Trump away from Georgia
NBC ^

The head of the National Republican Senatorial Committee pledged Wednesday to raise whatever money he can and begin an advertising blitz this week for Herschel Walker’s runoff in Georgia against Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock.

But there’s one aspect Sen. Rick Scott of Florida won’t weigh in on: whether former President Donald Trump should stay out of the Dec. 6 runoff.

GOP insiders faulted Trump, who has had a toxic relationship with popular Republican Gov. Brian Kemp even though he endorsed him the day before his re-election, for costing the party control of the Senate in two simultaneous runoffs last year, after Trump lost his re-election bid to President Joe Biden and then advanced false conspiracy theories about voting that led many Republican voters in Georgia to stay home.

Warnock won his race against Republican Sen. Kelly Loeffler, and Sen. Jon Ossoff defeated GOP incumbent David Perdue, swinging control of the narrowly divided Senate to the Democrats.

Now — after both sides have spent more than $200 million in this year's Senate race — Warnock is in another runoff. And it once again could decide the balance of power in the Senate.

Republican leaders don’t want a repeat of the 2021 runoff, especially now that Trump has teased a "big announcement" Tuesday, when he is widely expected to officially declare another White House bid. But Scott is staying mum on the Trump question.

“That’ll be a decision between Herschel and Trump. I know that Trump wants to be helpful to make Herschel win. That’s an issue for the campaign. I don’t get to participate in those decisions,” said Scott, who is in charge of getting Republicans elected as chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee.

Trump needs to be in Georgia campaigning for Walker most of the time from now until the runoff to prove that he can put MAGA candidates over the top!

As predicted, the RINOs are using Trump/DeSantis as a lever to wrench back control of the party. I’m praying that DeSantis doesn’t play their game and remains respectful. There’s too much on the line to divide the party at this point. Any division is a win for the socialists in ‘24, if we make it that long.

There mad at Trump for not producing the red tsunami they promised?

It's called projection; they accuse him for what they did.

Me too. After everything Trump has done for him the least he can do is honor his word to remain as governor for his full term.

I’m sure NBC has the Republican party’s best interest at heart.

for costing the party control of the Senate in two simultaneous runoffs last year,

Bull!!! It was McConnell that lost those seats by announcing he would only approve $600 stimulus checks, only to turn around after the election and approve the full amount

Never underestimate the Republicants ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

The “popular Republican Governor, Brian Kemp” gave Georgia’s US Senate seats to the Democrats when he rigged the 2020 election against Trump. Maybe we should ask him how long the deal was for?

Mitch, McCarthy & McDaniel are all useless and I wouldn’t be surprised if their apparent incompetence is actually intentional. They all hate Trump and MAGA and I’d bet dollars to donuts they didn’t vote for DJT.

Re: "keep Trump away from Georgia"

I think Walker is Trump's chosen candidate?

Months ago, I read some place that Trump encouraged Walker to run and promised to support him.

There was no way to push Walker aside once Trump endorsed him. White Georgia Republicans would have been relentlessly accused of racism if they defeated Walker in the GOP Primary.

Georgia is 49% non-white. No white Republican candidate could have survived politically in that kind of toxic election environment.

“I’m praying that DeSantis doesn’t play their game and remains respectful…”

You should be praying that ‘Trump’ remains respectful. DeSantis hasn’t said a word about Trump, and can’t say the reverse tho.

Maybe you should wake up and realize what happened in 2020 and likely this year too.

In 2020, the Dems concentrated on 5 cities, Atlanta being one, and used Zuckerberg’s money to buy votes from people who would likely have not bothered to vote. They utilized the density of the cities to leverage time.

In 2022, the biggest two groups that kept the margin down are single women and 18-29. The latter was linked technologically (I doubt more than a few Freepers are staying on Tik Tok for more than a minute a day, if ever, but the Dems have figured out how to indoctrinate the kids with this stuff, as well as get them registered and voting in numbers that were never dreamed of, nor easily polled.

Single women are petrified on the Left and they will vote for security over freedom ALL THE TIME.

If you think we lost those Senate races because of Kemp, you’re hallucinating. The Dems KILLED US logistically in both years. And McConnell has NO CLUE about all this, since he didn’t spend money DOING THE SAME THING for our candidates.

Trump spent not much either .
He supported real Duds and did not fund them .
Trump needs to Retire .

He was a huge distraction.
Made the race about him again .
Bad candidates just like his awful cabinet and WH staff picks .
Then acted like a Immature jerk and Jealous child involving Desantis .

We need a fresh start with Desantis or Abbott.

The RINOs, who worked actively to undermine his election, presidency his legislative agenda, his re-election, are so politically astute, acting so statesman-like that for the “good of the party” are now giving him public advice that would be best given in private? Guess they feel entitled that Trump “owes them one” after all they have done for him? ROTFLMAO

These fake politically savvy people just did more damage to Walker for his media enemies than anything that Trump could say in support of Walker.
