The incompetent, unethical journalists, mostly from mainstream media publications, are misleading readers about the case in their pursuit of stoking readers with sensationalism. The real argument from the plaintiffs was about a procedural rule that might not exist. The judge wrote a great political speech and ignored whether or not the plaintiffs had standing.
But yeah, politicians hand out money to get votes. They all do it, and some of them use laws made in regards to national emergencies to do it.
That is exactly what happened.
Those somewhat grown-up Participation trophy kids wanted another freebie.
IF I am EVER again in the position to hire & fire again-—
It will be part of my interviewing process.
ANYONE who gets or wants any of their student loan decreased will NEVER be hired by me.
It is outright theft, IMO.
Embrace the suck, Bernie!
As Charlie Sheen would say “DUH”. 🤘
Of course that’s why he did it. And now it’s gone because it was un-Constitutional for a POTUS to do it.
All those idiots who voted because of Biden’s freebie get exactly zip and the Biden team knew they’d get zip.
There was a bankruptcy reform bill entered in the House after Biden was elected, but before he was inaugurated, that would radically transform current bankruptcy law. It would eliminate chapter 7 and chapter 13 for individuals and substitute a chapter 10 process. It would offer $35K wild card exemptions to debtors in all states. It would take student loan debt off the list of categorically non-dischargeable debt.
It was introduced in the House, but to my eyes it appears to have Elizabeth Warren’s fingerprints all over it.
To my knowledge it sat on the shelf with no hearings, no markup to date.
I have advised potential clients who need to utilize bankruptcy but who can wait until January to file, to do just that - wait to see what comes out of the lame duck session of Congress. I don’t think it is out of the question that they could start passing everything but the kitchen sink, in order to implement what they can before the house switches control in January.
Assuming it switches control...
