I love that idea. Musk to Congressmen and women: Half of your staffs are FIRED. Tell me by tomorrow morning how you are cutting headcount by 50%.
If I had 44 billion dollars laying around, I think I would light it on fire, too.
Curious as to how much the Federal govt gave to twitter for access. People always spend $ more frivolously when it’s not their own hard earned $.
Outrageous. I see a government bailout in their future.
This is getting silly. Many are thinking somehow the speaker of the house is going to be someone other than Nancy Pelosi. SHE will be the speaker and if by some remote chance she isn’t, it will be the pre-approved Kevin McCarthy, one in the same with Pelosi. Does anyone remember McCarthy throwing Trump under the bus when Trump had COVID, how about right after Trumps loss, then again the J6 debacle? Tell me on thing McCarthy has done to promote true conservatism and to support DJT.

I don't know if it's the case in your district, but schools around the country are very often used for voting locations.
I've voted in schools and public health buildings. I've seen fire stations used as voting locations too.
Sometimes schools are closed because they are polling places.
If the school is open for voting, then I could see the kids having the day off.
That said, otherwise I agree completely with your assessment of teachers.
“Twitter eliminated ~4,400 of its ~5,500 contract employees, with cuts expected to have significant impact to content moderation and the core infrastructure services that keep the site up and running.” Platformer reporter Casey Newton said. “People inside are stunned.” he said. Contractors aren’t being notified at all, they’re just losing access to Slack and email. Managers figured it out when their workers just disappeared from the system. They heard nothing from their leaders”
This warms the cockles of my heart. And give me a huge belly laugh.
“Here, schools are frequently where voting locations. Not practical to have school and voting at the same location.”
The schools I have seen used for voting locations use the gym only. No classrooms affected.
Can you imagine them having to pack their lunch?
“There is no such thing as a free lunch.”
W. C. Fields
We use to use the local school gym but after Columbine we switched to local volunteer fire houses
I think all the Musk fans will change their tune when his chip is inserted in their forehead. Or maybe not.
Schools today though?
Ultra lolszzzz here. I have no more to say
If I were working there, I would basically be ignoring those amenities because I was . . . well . . . working! Maybe I’d hit the game room during the lunch break and maybe one glass of wine after getting off shift . . . you know, when alcohol wouldn’t impair my work.
In my part of Florida, churches are used as the polling places.
I used to think that schools were closed on election day so that they could be used as polling places. What I learned later is that schools are closed on election day so that teachers can go and campaign. If they live in an area that is solid Dem, they might even travel to another state to drive people to the polls. Of course that was in the olden days back when you actually had to go to the polls to vote. Now maybe teachers help with ballot harvesting.
Bttt.
