Report: Lee Zeldin Exploring a Bid for RNC Chair

Zeldin's principal qualification for the spot? He ran in a solid blue state and almost became governor. Cuomo won by 23 points in 2018. Hochul beat Zeldin by 6%.

One of his primary opponents, Rob Astorino, lost to Cuomo in 2014 by 14%. Astorino was the Westchester county exec before running. As such, Astorino had the Westchester county Republican machine working for him. Whereas Zeldin built his political operation from scratch, starting early, sometime in 2021.

Zeldin came within a razor's edge of becoming governor based on very little money. His campaign and PAC dollars came to less than half the $70m spent on Blake Masters's abortive election effort. And Masters ran in a purple, not blue state.

Sounds good to me too. I was impressed by the way he really plugged along no matter the odds. He did well and I think that sort of quiet determination - with a plan - is what the RNC needs.

Could be watershed moment for RNC, although after everything Trump did for Israel and still gets spit on by all the Jewish orgs / Hollywood clowns it might not mean a lot.
