A shortage of the common antibiotic Amoxicillin continues across the US as an increasing number of kids are diagnosed with seasonal illnesses and more parents are forced to call out of work to care for them.
As pharmacies struggle, due to an ongoing shortage that the FDA warned about several weeks ago, to keep up with the demand from parents for Amoxicillin, more and more Americans have been required to stay home from work to tend to their sick children.
More than 100,000 Americans missed work last month - an all time high - because of child-care problems, many of which come down to sick children and sick daytime caregivers.

No wonder there is a shortage if you are prescribing it for viruses as the article continuously mentions.
Its for bacterial infections.
From personal experience, a lot of mothers will insist the physician prescribe antibiotics even if the infection is viral. Just easier for the physician to subscribe and move on.
The article mentions that part of the demand is to treat secondary issues like ear infections.

In all my 29 years of being a mother of two kids in the pediatric office have I ever seen any of the various pediatricians I went to have I ever seen a pediatrician prescribe anti-biotics just because I thought they needed it.
This is total Bullcrap from the left making excuses for the biden administration, along with the shortages of formula, water, lakes and rivers drying up, and so on and so forth. If anything, they would try to avoid it, except for ear infections which is very common among babies and toddlers.
Wonder what percentage of the hospitalized kids are vaxxed...

Anyone remember the better days when kids with colds and childhood diseases stayed home and quickly recovered under the care of their stay-at-home mothers? When antibiotics still worked because they were not over-prescribed?
