The United States on Friday (Dec 2) unveiled the B-21 Raider, a high-tech stealth bomber that can carry nuclear and conventional weapons and is designed to be able to fly without a crew on board.
The slickly choreographed ceremony at B-21 manufacturer Northrop Grumman's facility in Palmdale, California, opened with the US national anthem as older bombers roared over a crowd that included top US officials.
Dramatic music played and lights flashed as the doors of a hangar holding the new aircraft slowly opened, and the crowd applauded as the cloth covering it was pulled away to reveal a sleek grey bomber that is on track to cost nearly US$700 million per plane.

Just in time to get the republicans in the Senate to vote for the democrats last spending bill and loose their fiscal power next year. Oh so slick and transparent.
Interesting take. Thanks.
Northrop Grumman badly needed this program.
Twenty years from now wars will be fought by robots. Naval commands will be managed from land. Robot soldiers including nanorobots will fill the battlefield. Air wars will be fought by pilotless drones. While this will have benefits like no more John McCains, it will also have its detractions, no more Chesty Pullers.
I didn’t use to be so cynical, but if Lloyd Austin is involved, then it’s a political event, and every political event of this administration involves screwing over anyone opposing them. I like the B-21, the B-2 is an 80’s technology aircraft and anything that will increase the bomber force while lowering costs is great, just hope they make the full buy.
“Full buy”
At $700 million per, they will get a dozen. It will follow the F22 procurement debacle scenario.

The Video is all hype to the nth degree taken to the nth degree
X to the nth to the nth
The video is misnamed. It should be called waiting for the unveiling.
“Fly without a crew on board”.
There’s a reason they’re called the Chair Force...
“The first flight by a B-21 - “the backbone of our future bomber force” - is expected to take place next year, and the Air Force plans to buy at least 100 of the aircraft, Stefanek said.”
The B-2 was supposed to be a 132 plane buy.
Then it was reduced to 75 planes.
Then it was reduced to 21 planes.
Then one crashed, so we now have 20 of them.
And with this GREAT ACHIEVEMENT of massive production of military hardware, the Neocons are demanding that we go to war against Russia and China!!!
Brilliant bunch we have in DC these days...
