It says: “ after the senator allowed a Washington Post reporter to impersonate him using Twitter Blue.”

So Markey authorized the Washington Post report to get a certified account in Markey’s name and Twitter is supposed to prevent this? How?

Exactly. Markey engineered a “gotcha” moment, which would be impossible to detect. It’s like giving a hacker the password to one’s Twitter account then complaining the system doesn’t prevent impersonation.
