Kevin McCarthy Is About to Enter Political Hell

The final count is in: Republicans will hold a slim 222–213 majority in the House of Representatives, giving whoever lands the terrible job of speaker a four-seat cushion on any floor vote. That’s the exact margin that outgoing Speaker Nancy Pelosi has worked her formidable magic with for two years. Pelosi, however, had two things that her Republican counterpart will not: a caucus full of mostly sane team players, and a policy agenda less radioactive than graphite from an exploded nuclear reactor.

It’s not like this is a new problem for the GOP. But previously, when House Republicans held majorities over for the past decade-plus, their near-total dysfunction was papered over by margins large enough to do frequent end-runs around hardliners.

"to do frequent end-runs around hardliners. "

This is the key sentence in this article. Because this is what John Boehner especially would FREQUENTLY do. He would pretend to be conservative, then pass bills with Democrats and moderate Republicans.

Then when Trump was elected, 50 of those moderate Republicans decided to retire to help the Democrats take the majority as a check to Trump.

Of the 241 Republicans that were sworn in on January 3rd 2017, 135 of them are gone (retired, died, defeated or sought other offices).

The new majority is FAR more conservative than the Boehner and Ryan (and Gingrich and Hastert) caucuses.

And THAT is their worry. A LARGE amount of the go-along types are GONE!

“Pelosi, however, had two things that her Republican counterpart will not: a caucus full of mostly sane team players...”

~~~
They were not sane, and they were most definitely TEAM PLAYERS. Democrats almost never buck the power of the empire. They are good little sycophants. The Senator from WV was one of the few exceptions.
SO the article’s whole problem is that republicans are not NPCs
Oh, they’re team players alright. But since Liberalism is a mental illness, they certainly weren’t sane.
Republicans will hold a slim 222–213 majority...
There must be a level of control, higher up the 'pay scale' that not only selects who the winners of political races are, but also selects the degree of majority/minority.
Consider that perhaps upwards of 90% of "republicans" are uniparty controlled opposition surrogates.
The numbers that count might be something more like the Uniparty holds a 422-13 majority.
Sure, because encouraging Drag Queen Story Hour and allowing schools to transition your children’s gender without your permission or knowledge isn’t insane or radioactive.
[[That’s the exact margin that outgoing Speaker Nancy Pelosi has worked her formidable magic with for two years. ]]
Except that she also had 10-12 or so rinos she could depend on to vote with her.
Who writes this crap????
Pelosi had a unified Democrat party the greenlighted her insane spending (mostly to Democrat donors). Republicans are split between free-spending RINOs and a few actual Republicans.
So, McCarthy will be forced to caucus with ... Democrats to spend OUR money.
Little will change in the District of Corruption.
As usual, the Democrat reporter gets it 100% backwards.
They also had up to 30 GOP turncoats for support when they needed it.
Nice to see that MSM contributors haven’t the slightest smidgin of bias. Such clear, concise writing and totally free of bombastic rhetoric!
How unexpected!
I used to love Free Republic, but postings of stuff here has just become unbearably pointless. Articles all too often are all just pap propaganda from the same ol’ legacy media and we’re supposed to comment on it as if it’s purposeful or real in any regard. Why waste time reading - and commenting on - what most know is a lie? Freep needs a leftist free zone of articles from trusted sources on the right. It’s time we canceled the leftist for a change!
