But Dems keep winning elections, or so we are told

It does appear that the Takers far outnumber the Makers.

Yes and there are STILL idiots that voted Democrat.

The people who don't have any savings and are hip-deep in debt.

The pace of inflation may have slowed slightly but its still rising at a pretty good clip. The cost of necessities will keep going up thereby squeezing what little disposable income is left for people to spend on discretionary items. This, of course, will eventually manifest itself in a declining standard of living.

The elites don’t even notice the inflation but the shrinking middle class sure does.

“The elites don’t even notice the inflation but the shrinking middle class sure does.”

*********”

This is a key point and should be repeated ad nauseam.

Another point in the current economic/political climate is:
How out of touch are politicians, bureaucrats, business leadership, etc?

Answer: Most of them have zero solutions & just want a continuation of the globalist politics of last 50 or 60 years.(They might as well try gluing Humpty Dumpty together)

“I remember general agreement around here that the value of “everything” was over-inflated so this drop is simply what was already baked in the cake. The important question is, how much further down before things are undervalued and ripe for buying?”

*********

What?

What?

An economic opinion on Free Republic that’s not based on a conspiracy theory.

I’m not sure where the hell I’m at, but I better find out before the great reset happens.(Sarcasm)

Ever notice how efforts to reduce inflation are always done from the demand side (increase borrowing costs and higher unemployment) and not from the supply side (more supply to bring down prices)? Its always a one sided policy that hurts the middle class the most.

You make a interesting point, a point I’ll look into when I get more time to do some research.

IMO even if they wanted to increase supply, they don’t have a sufficient supply of labor to achieve this feat at this moment in time.

I hope this incrementally changes in the future.

Safeway just within the hour, lowered its prices:

Regular

$3.85/gal

The so called discounter for most of us, is $4.17/gal.
