Young Voters Losing Enthusiasm for Democrats — But So What? 2022 Exit poll showed that 18-29s were the only age group in which a strong majority voted Democrats.

Young voters who are “critical to Democratic successes” are showing less enthusiasm for the party, according to a breathless Associated Press report.

Well, so?

I’m not discounting the power of young voters. Whatever their enthusiasm problem might or might not be, they showed up for the midterms in unexpectedly strong numbers. And as the AP story notes, “voters under 30 went 53% for Democratic House candidates compared with only 41% for Republican candidates nationwide.”

Nevertheless, those young voters’ numbers are down significantly from the two previous elections:

But that level of support for Democrats was down compared with 2020, when such voters supported President Joe Biden over his predecessor, Donald Trump, 61% to 36%. And in 2018, when Democrats used a midterm surge to retake control of the House, voters 18 to 29 went 64% for the party compared with 34% for the GOP.

And yet, even with waning enthusiasm, young voters are what some pollsters credit for the Red Wave diminishing to a trickle.

An Edison Research National Election Pool exit poll showed that 18-29s were the only age group in which a strong majority supported Democrats. Support for Democrats was even higher among Black youth at 89% and Latino youth at 68%.

But there’s turnout and then there’s turnout. Before I explain, I need to quote something my friend and colleague Stephen Kruiser reminded his readers about on Tuesday:

It isn’t that Republicans can’t win. Far from it. It’s that in too many places, we’re playing by the old rules while the Democrats are playing by new rules — rules they wrote for their own benefit.

In those places — places like Colorado, California, and wherever ballot harvesting is the new normal — under the new rules, enthusiasm doesn’t matter.

I’ll say it again and I want you to say it with me: Enthusiasm doesn’t matter.

The only thing that matters in the age of mail-in voting is getting the ballots out to your people and harvesting them back in, in numbers greater than the other side.

As you wrote, and also, people can be unenthusiastic and still vote. Many people don't vote for a party, they vote against a party.

Get them while they’re ignorant and uneducated.

That’s the plan by democrats to get the ‘young’ people votes.

And, it’s been working for them. Without that voting block, democrats could not win.

Exit polls? You mean they polled the 2,000 ballot mules?

Absolutely. You no longer need to souls to the polls, you just have to get enough personal information to request a ballot on their behalf and then badger that person into returning it at some point in the early voting window. Focused ads for niche issues can be pushed at different times in that big window and excite different groups of voters at different times, allowing the harvesters to move along to the next group of potential ballots.

Polls are truly meaningless with regards to gauging actual voter sentiment. They are purely for manipulation purposes. A DEM candidate could be behind 10% in a poll and still win on Election Day. And the people would just let it happen.

What would make these young minds full of mush more enthusiastic?

Democrats even further to the left?

Democrats will win. Polls and voting are meaningless. They should just declare themselves permanent rulers. They can still continue to allocate meaningless Rino’s seats here and there if they want to provide cover.

Rush Limbaugh used to say — It’s hard to fight Santa Claus.

So, if one party promises to forgive your college debts or maybe force landlords NOT to evict you if you can’t pay your rent, it’s a very hard proposition to ignore.

Democrats want voting age lowered. Seem young adults in their early 20’s are catching on. Demcrats think they’d do better with 15 year olds.

Moronials and generation zzzzz, will be in a world of hurt sooner or later. They expect other people to keep their standard of living ridiculously high, but the quantity of people who spent their lives working, sacrificing, and planning for their own futures who can be repeatedly taxed to keep them in a level comfort and free from responsibility at a level unprecedented in human history, are rapidly diminishing in numbers every year and will someday all keel over, leaving these kids them fully incapable of taking care of themselves.

Voting. Voters. It is to laugh. Voting doesn’t matter. It’s all predetermined by those in power.

And….I am never voting again. It’s the only way I see to fight back, by not participating in the farce.

Kids have all kinds of problems with Democrats these days ... but for the most part don't see voting Republican as a good solution to those problems. In a lot of places and social contexts where young people congregate, Republicans are more of a sinister joke than a political alternative.
