The fact that this writer describes small arms that are half a century old indicates they know little about how this stuff works. An AK-74 or even an AK-47 are some of the best small combat arms ever made.

Even the basic design of the M4 is based on the M16. That basic design hasn’t change since the early 1960s. (Yes I know the M4 is an updated version...but if you know the weapons you would understand my point.)
