The White House press office declared a mid-morning “lid” on Tuesday as the Supreme Court weighs the fate of the Title 42 pandemic migration policy — while border communities and major US cities brace for a potential humanitarian crisis.
A White House pool report sent at 10:35 a.m. relayed that President Biden’s staff declared the lid, which means that no public events are planned or likely to happen.
It’s unusual to call a presidential lid so early in the day, since major domestic or international news could prompt schedule changes.
Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts paused plans Monday to lift Title 42 in response to a lawsuit filed by the American Civil Liberties Union. The Biden administration had until 5 p.m. Tuesday to respond to an appeal from a group of 19 Republican-led states that sought to keep the policy in place.

You are probably right. The “lid” is so that all the leaders (0bama, Rice, Jarrett, et al) can convene a big zoom meeting, instruct Kalama as to keeping her mouth shut, give Mayorkas some promise of a bonus down the road, and then (as you said)… proceed to ignore the SC.
Too bad the “lid” is not on Biden’s coffin.

Only consolation is the arctic weather coming in just as 42 is set to end. Single digit temps on the southern border.
I think in the past, we didn’t hear so much insider lingo we hear now. Would not be surprised if some of it is due to Aaron “Shrooms” Sorkin’s pompous TV show, “The West Wing.”
Yep! That’s the new Dem plan. Pass EVERYTHING you can, (through congress or EOs or whatever), and then let the courts throw it out. That allows you to rail on the terrible, no good supreme court.
